Clinton to Bush: 'Why Don't You Leave Office Early'

July 12, 2007 4:25 PM

ABC News' ..............

"The president just called what we are trying to do 'socialized medicine,'" Clinton told the NAACP. "Well I have news for President Bush, 'if you think that insuring children is somehow un-American, then why don't you leave office early and leave us the opportunity to do what we should do to take care of the children of the United States of America."

Clinton made her remarks while participating in a Democratic presidential candidates forum in Detroit sponsored by the NAACP.

Watch the video HERE.

While President Bush did not use the term "socialized medicine" during recent remarks on health care, the Clinton campaign is pointing to the president's June 27 comments in which he criticizes Democrats for wanting to take "incremental steps" down the path to "government-run health care."

"At the same time that they try to expand S-CHIP to older citizens," said President Bush, "they are trying to expand Medicare to younger citizens. Their goal is to take incremental steps down the path to government-run health care for every American."

2. Hil Clinton had role in starting this program:
Clinton, who failed in her 1993-94 effort to bring universal health-care coverage to the U.S., played an important role in getting the children's health insurance program enacted during her husband's second term. The program, which is administered by the states, provides privately delivered health care to children of parents who are too rich to qualify for Medicaid but too poor to afford private insurance on their own.

3. Resign
Well there you go Hillary, that's the magic word. I can't believe she said it, even in that round about, half-joking manner.

5. what's with the implication that socialized medicine is somehow wrong?
What's wrong is taking advantage of the sick, desperate and dying in order to squeeze out more profit.

Too many who profess to be Christians are, in reality, worshipping Almighty Mammon with all their might.

7. As someone pointed out the other day, we already have
universal healthcare, it's just that you have to go to the emergency room to get it.

9. Does this mean the MSM is finally calling the Senator by her last name?
I know there's the confusion with her husband if she's just called "Clinton", but calling her "Hillary" always seemed belittling to me.
