Edwards says he wants smaller groups
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 04:19 PM by jsamuel
For his part, Edwards told reporters in Iowa that he wasn't in favor of barring anyone from future gatherings. Rather, he said he wanted to see them separated into two groups of four each, chosen randomly.

"The result would be that we would have a much more serious discussion and people would actually be able to see what the differences are between us," he said.

I think Gravel shouldn't be there, but anyway...

So John Edwards wanted to break up into 2 groups of 4 so that more could be covered.

I guess everyone just jumped to conclusions. All the other reduction talk was about the debates themselves.

2. Again - It is NOT up to Edwards
Is his ego really that big that he thinks he can run the debates?

I bet when he was a kid, he would change the rules to a game to make himself win.

10. It seems like he's just making a suggestion
I don't see anything in the statement that implies that he thinks he's running things.

5. It took him all day to come up with this explanation? Pathetic--altho Hillary's worse trying to
"throw him under the bus." I expect Edwards is furious with her.

6. eh, that is expected from Clinton, but Edwards was in Iowa and his campaign
couldn't answer this for him. He had to do it, that means the media had to wait until they could ask him questions, then report it back, then print it.

8. Get your spin straight
Was he trying to reduce the number of candidates or the number of debates? Edwards seems to be saying candidates. If anything, splitting into groups like that will increase the number of debates.

11. Edwards "We should try to have a more serious and
a smaller group"

Edwards "And they're not serious"

????

The word serious can clearly be heard when watching the videos, both the ABC video and the Fox video.

Who are the serious candidates that Edwards refers to in this statement?

Nice try by Edwards, but I'm still not buying that bridge.
