To paraphrase John Conyers: If we let her get away with refusing to appear ...........
...... we should never expect a Congressional subpoena to be honored again.

I heard Conyers say (essentially) this regarding Ms. Miers' nose thumbing of the House in a news report today on DC's WTOP news radio.

It seems to me that once someone says something like that, one pretty much has to do something about it or look silly. The something in this case is pretty much finding her in contempt of Congress.

Will the Judiciary Committee go that far? Will they cite a Bush boy loyalist, former Bush boy babysitter, and former Supreme Nominee (hahahahahaha) with contempt of Congress?

I, sadly, don't know and have little confidence they will.

What do you think?

1. I think that there is a pretty good chance that they will, IF
no concessions are made. However, the worrisome part is what happens if Miers agrees to show up and then simply does what Taylor did -- refuse to answer most questions?

2. We KNOW she'll do that .... that's pro forma
It will eventually be fought in the courts and will not be settled for years past when this presidential term is over. But at least that follows the law.

3. IF congress does nothing about this, we really do need to clean house
and get some new blood in there. IF they are willing to just sit back and let a dictator tell them what they can do and cannot do. Then they need to be voted out. bush is spoiling for a showdown with congress. I just hope congress is ready for it, because I think the rest of bush`s term is going to take a lot of spine from our dems. Will they be up to it?? Only time will tell.

4. I have more confidence in Conyers than in his senate counterpart
At this point anyway.
