The current administration is attempting to replace...
a Democratic Republic w/a Monarchy.

Watching Bill Moyers last night, I came to several conclusions that are obvious but seldom seen by the people as to what this administration is doing.

What they have done is beyond the pale, and the precedents they are attempting to engage are the beginnings of the downfall of the US as we have known it for 231 years.

The damage these people have done has no parallel our history; while they swore to uphold the Constitution, they have, in fact, done everything in their power to usurp that document. The previous complicit GOP led congress did all it could to give unprecedented power to these New Age Royalists, and it will take many years and a lot of pressure to rescind what has been done.

Slowly, as always in congress, wrongs are being corrected, but the future is in doubt. Once power is gained, it is extremely difficult to wrest said power from those that acquire it. In the case of this administration, far and away the worst this nation has ever seen, the possibility exists that an even worse one is down the road. The current administration, and the complicit GOP congress that gave these people power, have refused to look to the past to see what has happened, and refuse to look to the future to see just how damaging these decisions can potentially be.

Congress, under Gingrich, DeLay, Hastert, Lott and others, have given away oversight, and to add to the situation, the Press, had left these individuals free reign to destroy what they didn't like. Even when these people are shown to be criminals and traitors, they are essentially left to their own devices to destroy the last vestiges of democracy in the US.

It is imperative that they be exposed, and seen throughout history as a group of self aggrandizing and power hungry people who have sold our Constitution to the highest bidder. It is up to we, the people, to ensure we return to a system of checks and balances and give future generations a reason to be hopeful that the US will remain a Constitutional Democratic Republic.

I do believe that we may get enough Senators to garner a conviction after impeachment. For those that do not know, because they have chosen to pluck out their eyes and icepick their ears, impeachment will drag out the destructive nature of this administration.

By attempting to usurp the Constitution, these people have become traitors, whether they did it in ignorance of of free will, is of little to no consequence.

Both voting and impeachment are ways that WE the people can protect ourselves from tyrants, or as the oath to Federal office/appointment so eloquently states,"...protect this nation from enemies, both foreign and domestic...". We must worry about our domestic enemies, for they are far more unscrupulous than and foreign enemy. bush, cheney, and many of the cabinet members and appointees, are domestic enemies of the Constitution and the United States as a Democratic Republic.

Call, write, e-mail and shout it out in the streets, these people are accountable to the citizens of this great nation, not party, not religion, nor anything else...they are responsible to us. We have the power to make change, use every tool we have that does no physical harm, and we shall get our nation back from these goons who think they know better than us, just what Freedom and Justice mean.
Let us band together and demand Justice, and thereby take THEIR freedom away.

2. Oddly enough, it really should be a Republican that still has a soul...
(are there any out there?).

It was Goldwater that gave Nixon the news about a Heave-Ho, say what you want about Barry being a conservative, he did have some principles; in fact, before he died, he called the current, (at the time), leadership in the GOP..."shitheads", and thought Reagan was a complete disaster.

We are more partisan divisive now, but a GOP w/some morals and fortitude, could put an end to this nightmare. I don't see any out there, but some are creeping out of the dark...:)

4. I agree
it has to be a republican, his/her politics aren't improtant, right, far right, moderate what counts is principles. In his day Goldwater was considered extreme, but he had principles and he loved his country. I do hope there is one republican like him.

3. Well said rasputin1952. The insidious politicization of every federal department, along narrow
ideological lines, may well take a generation to reverse. They lie at the heart of the relationship between the federal bureaucracy and the public at large - from the Dept's. of Justice, State and Defense to Interior - and need to return to their implicit contracts. The health and welfare of the nation, not a small wedge of ideological partisans.
