"Most spectacular implosion of a campaign I've ever seen."
Edited on Sat Jul-14-07 04:43 PM by trof
NPR commentator Mara Liason (sp?) on John McCain.

I believe Johnny's done.
Chances for recovery are between Slim and none, and Slim ain't home.

1. Tone deaf fool who kept repeating the same shit, even when those "facts on the ground"
went the wrong way.

Well, on the bright side, if Cheney gets impeached, or clutches the pearls and goes home, ill and unable to continue in his role, he's free to take the job and be the caretaker VP for the remainder of the term.

3. Am I the only one who thinks McCain has Alzheimer's?
The man has been increasingly irrational over the last few months.

5. I thought all those guys were irrational as hell.
They're alpha males; they don't have to be nice and rational like the rest of us.

8. That and always figured he got off too easy in Keating Five scandal
and someone has held his marker ever since. His ass was owned and somebody reminded him about it in the summer of 04. He has been dying ever since.

9. I think he's created a psychosis.
He spent his entire career being rational, opposing insane wars, and, within the confines of a screwed up party, trying to do what he believed was right. He's spent the last four years going against everything he believed the rest of his life to support a man with a third his IQ and who insulted his own family. In the 18th century he'd have challenged Bush to a duel, but in the 21st he began sucking up to him and trying to convince himself he liked it.

He's changed his mind and his direction so many times that he no longer understands right from wrong, so his brain just shuts off.

Or Alzheimer's. Who knows?

How bout years. He was most certainly left scarred after years of capture and torture in Vietnam.

(worst case I ever saw by the way), how about showing some of that integrity people seem to think you have? How about coming out for the troops and, as a perk, sticking it to the people who smeared you out of the nomination in 2000?

7. I think it's stategy. The media is lowering expectations so that anything he does
looks like an upswing.

Well.

I don't know if it's the case. But if I were imploding, I'd really really want to lower expectations and then say that any success was a big success.

Keep an eye out for the media using that spin if he ends up raising as much $ this quarter as he did last quarter.

15. When he was running for the nomination in 2000
I thought the guys politics was right in line with the American People and discarding that ANYBODY would vote for bush, I figured he was going to give any democratic nomination a run for their money. But he quickly went down hill to a butt kissing, narrow mined piece of crap almost as bad as bush. Thank goodness his campaign is shot. Hope Romney and rudi's does the same. Deputy Dawg thompson doesn't stand a chance if he runs.

19. Heck, I know a die hard Repug that'll vote for Clinton over McCain
I never realized how much they hate him for his campaign finance reform stance until this election. They claim it's a free speech issue but it really makes corporate fund raising just a little more difficult. You throw on top his immigration bill and the Repug base despises him. He toned down his maverick approach and embraced Bush Inc policies to try and appeal to the Repug base but lost the independents and moderates. Man, I thought I'd seen some lousy campaigners but McCain has to be one of the worst.
