Gilmore Drops Presidential Candidacy

The Associated Press
Saturday, July 14, 2007; 5:31 PM

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore
ended his long-shot campaign for presidency on Saturday.

The 57-year-old Republican said in a written statement
that his late start, near the end of April, and the front-
loaded primary schedule "have made it impractical to
continue to pursue this path towards further public
service."

"I have come to believe that it takes more than a positive
vision for our nation's future to successfully compete for
the presidency," Gilmore said. "I believe that it takes
years of preparation to put in place both the political and
financial infrastructure to contest what now amounts to a
one-day national primary in February."

1. He gone.
I honestly thought McCain had a very good chance of being next.

2. Um, who?
Somehow I feel that him LEAVING the race is garnering him more publicity than him ENTERING the race...

6. Tommy Thompson is next
No way T. Thompson will make it much longer. McCain and Huckabee might not be too far behind.

I actually think Hunter, Paul, and Brownback will stay in the race until the primaries.

9. It's good news to have a bad guy out of the picture.
He barely left a mark, which is good, because he's bad news.

Adios, Jim baby. Don't let the screen door, etc.
