AAR reported today that the Democratically Elected President of Iraq has invited us to LEAVE.
WE are violating the law by staying in a "liberated" country when we are no longer needed/wanted. Is it not time to declare "victory" and get the hell out?!

I didn't see this reported here, so I apologize if it's a duplicate.

Here's an article on this from the El Paso Times:

U.S. troops can leave 'any time they want,' Maliki says

BAGHDAD - Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki shrugged off U.S. doubts of his government's military and political progress on Saturday, saying Iraqi forces are capable and American troops can leave "any time they want."

One of his top aides, meanwhile, accused the United States of embarrassing the Iraqi government by violating human rights and treating his country like an "experiment in a U.S. lab."

Al-Maliki sought to display confidence at a time when pressure is mounting in Congress for a speedy withdrawal of U.S. forces. On Thursday, the House passed a measure calling for the U.S. to withdraw its troops by spring, hours after the White House

...

In addition, he said that al-Maliki has problems with the top U.S. commander, Gen. David Petraeus, who he said works along a "purely American vision."

Democrats had better seize this moment.

8. "Mission accomplished - part deux."
If the war was about finding WMD aka nukes, there were none.

If it was about "Liberation" we've given the people of Iraq a Constitution and a President via a democratic election.

If it's about fighting "them" there so we don't have to fight them here, they ARE here and there going to fight "there" whether we're in the way or not.

If it's about "terror" we've got to heed the recent warnings that AlQaeda is regrouping in the US. We need our troops HOME.

If it's about the people of Iraq, they've just asked us to leave.

...

(That's all just framing/mumbo jumbo above, but I know you get the drift.) ;)

The President of Iraq would like us to leave, it's our ticket out. TAKE IT !
