Alaska Senator Scrutinized in Corruption Probe with son!

Another one bites the dust. They are dropping like flies.

Powerful, often-abrasive Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK), 83, is enmeshed in a federal corruption probe that has implicated his son Ben. The Justice Department is investigating ties between a fishing co-op that paid Ben Stevens $500,000 and a federal bailout passed by the senator.

1. Ben is also very tied in with the VECO corruption

cases that are ongoing here, as is old Ted. Two former and one current (until he resigned a couple of weeks ago) state legislators have been indicted for accepting bribes for votes from oil services company VECO. Former state senate president Ben has accepted more money than anyone from VECO for "consulting fees," and they apparently paid for Ted's remodel on his Girdwood home. Neither of them have been indicted yet, but we see it coming -- especially Ben.
