Open letter to Congress:

To the Honorable ...,

The time has come for you to decide whether you are going to stand for America, back our constitution and support the authority of your own office or are you going to become a vassal for the imperialistic pigs that now ‘lead’ our country?
They have lied to Congress and the American people about the events of 9/11. They led us into an illegal and immoral war with the sovereign nation of Iraq. They trampled our bill of rights, conducted thousands of illegal wire-taps and e-mail surveillances. They exposed the name of one of our covert intelligence agents, fired a large group of US attorneys in order to put into place attorneys sympathetic to their imperialistic agenda. The president commuted the sentence of I. Lewis Libby in order to prevent him from possible testimony against himself and v.p. Cheney and even now, they have ordered executive aides to give false testimony or none at all to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which clearly oversteps the authority of the executive branch of our government.
There is no longer any middle ground as Speaker Pelosi seems to think. Either you are a defender of the constitution and of our democracy or you are not! You are either a representative of a government by the people and for the people, or you are an irrelevant figure in an impotent office.
Hr333, the bill calling for the impeachment of Cheney was introduced over eighty days ago and now has fifteen co-signers. While a large percentage of us feel that the entire top of the ladder needs to be removed, the impeachment of Cheney would be a good start. It would at least show the People that you do indeed have a backbone, and that the legislative branch of our government is still a viable office. I urge you to support this bill, as well as any forthcoming bill to impeach more of the executive officers. If you can do nothing to right our system of checks and balances and restore the People’s, and the world’s, faith in our system, then I am afraid that all is lost, our government has failed us and We the People must do what we must do in order to ensure that our great democracy does not die.

Sincerely,
Scott Alberts
