If Cheney attacks Iran, what ya want to bet that the mandatory draft returns? |
|
And the draft would mean that MY kids will be forced to learn how to shoot and KILL people and spend years in a hot, hostile foreign country where there is a fair chance their young lives will end.
I may be ready to kill someone myself if this becomes a reality.
This means YOUR kids too!
And if you are of drafting age, it could mean YOU yourself may have limited time left to live because of our glorious leaders.
It won't be a distant war fought by someone else "over there". It will be YOU and YOUR KIDS who will have to pay with your own lives this time!!!
But not the Cheney kids, not the Bush kids, or any other kids of the families that will be responsible for the death your children!!
People HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THIS!!

1. If cheney attacks Iran, there won't be enough people to draft |
|
to fight a war like that. It'll end up being the whole Middle East.

4. If we hit Iran after all the shit we've pulled.... |
|
They will be fighting us 1000 years from now.
If we last that long.
A truly endless war.

2. Our military is stretched to the limit |
|
A draft would have to be inevitable. However, with Republicans jumping ship off the USS Fuckup, I just can't see this administration getting the support for another war. Well, they could create an incident...

23. A draft would be about as popular (especially with the neoCON contingent |
|
whose kids are safely immune from military service) as a nice swim in a sewer main.
The draft issue fueled a great deal of the anti-war protests back in the day.

..I'm afraid that if/when it does happen, the American people will just pick up the clicker and change to another channel. Maybe a draft would get us riled up, but maybe not. I've never seen such a level of apathy amongst my countrymen.
Remember in the Ukraine when Viktor Ushenko was poisoned and almost the entire population marched on the Statehouse demanding their democratic rights? Who woulda ever thought the Ukraine would trump The Great USA in terms of Human rights? How the mighty have fallen!

7. Mandatory draft would be a good way for them to create more rebellion. |
|
They've known not to hit us very hard in the Personal Convenience, ensuring grumbling but not rioting. A draft would elevate our opposition drastically, and they must know it.
Americans respond when something hits them in their Personal Convenience, and rarely before.

14. No It Wouldn't. It Would Just Enable Them To Wage War Forever |
|
People wouldn't like it, some would protest, but enough would submit.
Our only hope of EVER ending this war is to make sure they never get the power to conscript.

15. I agree that they intend an endless war (read: endless MilIndustrial feedbag) |
|
and that conscription would be disastrous, and that little seems to be stopping them from doing whatever they want.. We can only hope that it doesn't come down to more war, and greater and greater power for them.

8. I think if there's going to be any attack on Iran it won't involve ground troops anyways. |
|
We don't have them, and even with a draft it would take a long while to get them ready for that particular brand of fighting.
So,if an attack happens,I'd guess a massive cruise missile attack, followed by air strikes for who knows how long.We wouldn't need ground troops. We devastate Iran's ability to produce oil, weakening them economically on top on the devastation the attacks would incur, which also stops them from any interfering in Iraq, and strengthens our...er,I mean Iraq's hand in the region. It's a win-win for these thugs.
Assuming of course Russia and China don't mind, that is.

20. it won't start with ground forces |
|
It will be dozens of targeted strikes with cruise missiles and bombing runs. And we'll tell the Iranian people we want to be friends with them, it's just their leaders we're trying to get rid of. Of course Iran with strike back against our troops in both neighboring countries as well as attacks through proxies all over the region and eventually here in the US as well. We'll escalate the fight in response striking a larger range of military targets, perhaps economic targets in hopes of inciting the Iranian people to rise up. In many ways it will look like Iraq. At first it will seem like a rousing success. But day after day it will keep growing and loses on both sides with add up. Troops in Iraq will be moved from to hold position in Iran and secure the shipping lanes. Parts of Iraq will descend into utter chaos (frightening to think it could get worse). Either Turkey or Israel will be the first to take advantage of the situation and move their forces across their border in the name of security. New hotspots in fighting will flare up. The Suad family long propped up by the US very well may be swept away by local unrest. Russia in a move to 'assist us' will retake Kazakhstan & Turkmenistan
In all it is quite likely it will turn into a real world war 3

9. It will have to come back. |
|
We simply do not have enough soldiers to fight another war and bombing won't be enough to take Iran down. A few "attacks" here in the States will convince the people to allow Bush to be dictator and institute the draft. This Bush cabal needs to be stopped immediately but they won't be and this will most likely come to pass.

America is NOT a totalitarian country. Bewsh WILL be forced on his ass should he pull this shit.
Only the loyal 28 percenters and Blackwater will defend him. Corporations don't WANT that shit to hit the fan. They like things bad, don't get me wrong, but not SO bad that they risk the welfare of their families.

12. If they institute a draft, I'm setting up a Het Achterhuis for my niece and nephew. |

"....Het Achterhuis: Het Achterhuis literally means 'house behind.' It is the name Anne uses for the Secret Annexe, and the title that Anne wants to give her journal if it is published after the war...." http://www.bookrags.com/notes/daf/OBJ.htm

The fact that we have not been asked to sacrifice anything, and are disgracefully disconnected from the reality of the war has been the only thing that has kept Republicans behind this shit bomb. Once they are actually asked to do something beside buying more shit they'll turn and run from Bush like he was pissing on them.
If they do attack Iran they will continue to stretch our military even thinner, and since the troops can't complain Bush will continue to say he's "supporting" them.
