Sen. Durbin blasts McConnell and the Republicans
This is why Senator Durbin keeps getting re elected here in Illinois. Because for all his seemingly mild mannered ways he can throw a hard punch at the bad guys.
Here is a link to Crooks and Liars. They have the video of him making his impassioned plea on the floor regarding the obstruction the republicans use to stop the war vote.
This is good.

1. The replay is on CSPAN 2 now
Central Time Zone. Actually, Durbin has already made his plea and he and Warner are debating the issue. Go Durbin!

2. I am watching the rerun of Durbin's speech today on CSpan 2.
I am watching Warner twisting facts and lying through his teeth. It is simply incredible - does he actually believe the shit that he is spewing? Durbin is having to go back and remind him of the lies that took us in, and of how Iraq became a terrorist breeding ground due to our illegal occupation.

There is the typical response -

We have to rely on the facts as we know them now.
We have to deal with what we have in front of us now.

I want to scream this from the rooftops - if you have a failed approach and those who propagated it are still in power, then there is no hope of success. Sure we have to move forward - but we have to both understand where we went wrong, and recognize that we can't succeed when the failed leadership is still in place!

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
