16. I don't think he'd do it and I don't think he has enough name recognition.
Why would he want to give up the job security?

4. It's not going to happen.
And there's not nearly enough to support even speculation that this might be the case.

10. Roberts is not a politician.
He does not have that kind of appeal. He would be the Republican version of John Kerry or Adlai Stevenson. And Republicans would be less likely to vote for Roberts or to get excited about him than the Democrats got about Kerry or Stevenson. He is not the right guy to garner the redneck support. Besides, he is more powerful than the president and doesn't have to face the personal scrutiny. Why in the world would he want to run for president?

25. Yeah. But who would vote for him.
He doesn't connect to people in the way a politician does. It's just chemistry, and he doesn't have it. If they nominate him, it's fine with me because if he is elected, we will know for sure they cheated.

26. All the same people who voted for * and many, many more who will never vote for a Dem.
No matter which Dem. People don't vote on issues but on emotions. Example, My neighbor says Romney has the "look". I ask, what look? Reply, you know the look! I ask, but what about his positions, he changes everyday. Reply, I like the sound of his voice too, but I don't listen to what any of them say. That's who will vote for him.

15. But I have a gut feeling, I'm on to something. The current candidates
don't seem to be trying very hard, except for Mitt. The M$M should still ask the CJ and find out if he will say flat out No, or does he duck and weave.

21. The media would never ask this question
Because no one thought of it besides you.

I mean just go through the implications.

He would have to step down from to the Court to campaign, that means Bush would get a new nominee who would surely be somewhat less conservative than Roberts because Democrats now control the Senate, and there is always the possibility that Roberts loses and gets nothing.

He has no organization, and has made no indication whatsover that he would do this in a million years.

I just couldn't disagree with you more.

23. There is no legal reason he would have to step down, the court runs
from Oct to end of May. Plenty of time for him to get in. Their convention is next Aug.
