Hillary Buys Vilsack Endorsement
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2007/07/hillary_creates_appearance_of.html

Her major backers donated nearly $90,000 to former governor Tom Vilsack, D-Iowa, shortly after Vilsack dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Clinton, the Los Angeles Times' Dan Morain reports. (The Clinton campaign also bought Vilsack's donor list for $20,000.) The cash helped Vilsack retire part of his $148,000 campaign debt.

1. That and $3.95 will get Hillary a cup of coffee in Iowa
Most Iowans I know are less than impressed with Vilsack -- he's a nice guy, he speaks well, he has some good ideas. But IMHO he never really did much as our governor, but talk. His endorsement of Hillary means nothing to me.

2. Clinton isn't my favorite candidate, but IF this is true
it's how politics is "played."

4. So, we should accept it because this is how it's always been?
Shouldn't we want more than this?

I don't care if Hillary, Dean, or someone else did it. It's still wrong.

7. I do not remember having seen that on DU when it was Dean...
And I object to the source. Why not Drudge? :sarcasm:

10. Do we want a purer than pure candidate who can't beat the Repubs?
Our candidates shouldn't be breaking any laws, of course, but a politician acting like a politician doesn't bother me.

3. You mean the same way that Howard Dean 'bought' Carol Mosely-Braun's endorsement?

5. Nice spin!
So the endorsement is "worth nothing" but she "paid" 90K for it?
But "she" didn't pay 90K... people some blog called "her major backers" did...
But Vilsak's endorsement won't actually sway any voters?
So maybe... that's not why her "major backers" did what they did?

6. Please - The American Thinker - What about Drudge or something else.
Yes, some Clinton's donors retired a relatively small debt that the Vilsack campaign had. So what. Vilsack had endorsed her a long time before that and there was never doubt that he would.

9. Yes, but your choice is telling...
btw, why do you think surprising that Vilsack, former head of the DLC, endorsed Hillary.

I do not support Hillary, but I hate people who insult my intelligence.
