Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has made the best inroads among the 2008 presidential candidates in raising money on U.S. Sen. John McCain's home turf. Romney has made several campaign and fundraising stops in Arizona since the beginning of the year. He raised more than $370,000 here during the second quarter, according to the Federal Election Commission. That is more than all the other major presidential candidates except for McCain, who brought in more than $764,000 from backers in his home state during the same period.
U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York brought in the most Arizona money among the Democratic candidates: $272,000 during the second quarter.
The Democratic front-runner's Arizona contributors include shopping center developer Jim Pederson, other members of his family and executives from his Phoenix real estate company. Pederson is a former Arizona Democratic Party chairman and U.S. Senate candidate, a significant Democratic financier and an ally of the Clintons.

Democratic presidential rivals John Edwards and Obama brought in $108,000 and $69,000, respectively, from Arizona during the second quarter, according to the FEC.
Edwards, a former trial lawyer, has received a number of contributions from Arizona trial lawyers, including some from Goldberg & Osborne. KTVK-TV Channel 3 meteorologist Royal Norman also has given to Edwards' presidential efforts.
