CNN's Schneider puts Richardson in the top 3 |
|
Just now, to illustrate the voters' taste for change, Schneider said the top 3 Democrats are a woman, an African-American and a Latino, with corresponding camera shots of each.
So one poll that shows Edwards lagging two points behind Richardson in NH is enough for CNN to start pushing the idea that Richardson is in the top 3...seems a little premature to me.

1. The only thing that's had Edwards in the top 3 |
|
has been in Iowa. But realistically, considering the time and money he's invested in that state, he's not doing extraordinarily well there, and worse in a few of the other early states. I don't agree that Richardson is in the top three, yet, but neither is Edwards anymore. I would say Edwards is leading the second tier at this point, a tier comprised of him and Richardson. It may be just for the time being, but that's my take on the current situation.

2. Have you ever met Bill Schneider? |
|
He is a Republican blow-hard, rather full of himself, although not a completely unpleasant guy if you leave the politics out of it. He is paid to make pronouncements, and gives the impression that his title of "senior political analyst" makes him more worth listening to than a Delphic Oracle.
He once told me after the 2004 election that Kerry was a disaster that had no chance anyway because Bush was such a "strong leader."
Any "senior political analyst" that come up with the assessment that Bush was a strong leader could use some analysis, himself, if you ask me.
Taking Bill Schneider's assessments on things as gospel is risky business at best. You're better off having a beer with him.
