Nader's alliance with James Dobson!

http://www.commercialalert.org/issues/culture/gambling/nader-dobson-ask-whether-democrats-want-to-be-the-party-of-the-gambling-industry

Yes, Big Ego Ralph did in fact ally up with that Religious Right bigot over their view that they should be allowed to control what consenting adults do with their own money. No surprise Ralph is just as much a control freak as the Religious Right.

3. Absolutely I want the Democrats to be the party of the gambling industry
Gambling should be legalized and regulated. Anyone who is so stupid as to gamble away all of their money deserves a Darwin award. Government shouldn't outlaw gambling just because a few people might be too stupid and impulsive to be able to control themselves.

Besides, we need those 5 electoral votes in Nevada.

4. Absolutely
Just as I want the Democrats to be the party of the alcohol industry, the pornography industry, the strip club industry, etc. Morally uptight prudes already have a party for them.

21. Like other rackets that prey on people, gambling should be left to the mob
which is basically what they corporate rackeeters are these days. There's a reason why it was illegal all those years...

7. This is the ONLY requirement to run for President
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 -- Constitution of the United States...

I don't see anything about having to be vetted by DU...

She's rude and crude even to progressives who call in -- maybe especially to Progressives who call in...

She runs roughshod over anyone who doesn't agree 100% with her opinion of the moment.

I can't listen to her anymore.

She did her same shit just one minute into the first video -- she's like fingernails on a chalk board...

Also, this is about 2004 -- no one in their right mind can accuse Nader of costing Kerry the election.

Even Gore doesn't blame Nader for 2000...

Old lies and innuendo...

12. Why didn't you print the letter?
Edited on Wed Jul-18-07 02:24 PM by ProudDad
Too reasonable for ya'?

Old, old "news"???

--------
Ralph Nader and Dr. James Dobson, President of Focus on the Family, sent a letter today to Joe Andrew, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, inquiring about the Democratic Party’s stands on gambling:

August 2nd, 1999

Dear Mr. Andrew:

We write to inquire about a news article in the Las Vegas Sun, on June 3, 1999, regarding the National Gambling Impact Study Commission. The article reports that “Two weeks ago, President Bill Clinton raised $400,000 for the Democratic National Committee in Las Vegas. During that visit, DNC Chairman Joe Andrew told the Sun that Democrats in Washington want to be the party of the gaming industry.”

We have two questions for you:

Do “Democrats in Washington” or the Democratic Party “want to be the party of the gaming industry”? If so, what policies will the Democratic Party advance in support of the gambling industry? We are concerned when any political party is reported to boast that it wishes to be “the party of the gaming industry.” The gambling industry is the bane of millions of Americans, and a proximate cause in countless divorces, cases of domestic violence, bankruptcies, suicides, and homelessness, as well as despondency, ruination, impoverishment, despair and many other social ills and familial pain.* We want to know where you and the Democratic Party stand on gambling.

Sincerely,

Ralph Nader
James. C. Dobson, President, Focus on the Family

---------

The "gaming industry" is one of the major forces that fucked up education in California with their phony "lottery for schools"...

I got no love for that mafia...

13. That letter reads like moralistic religious right bullshit
Exactly what Dobson supports of course.

Like Dobson, Nader is a control freak who wants to control what citizens can do with their money. Nader also apparently considers Dobson to be preferable to Gore and Kerry.

I hate all organized religion, well, I don't hate it I just consider it irrelevant to my life (or anyone else's REALLY)...

I don't give a shit whether someone gambles or not although treatment on demand should be available for the minority who have a gambling addiction. I'm reasonably sure that Nader doesn't want to limit what people do with their own money for their own amusement...

I do care if the Democratic party aligns itself with major corporations against the People -- gambling included. In this case, Clinton was a classic whore for the gambling moguls...

I also watched the Nevada gambling mafia fuck over the California School System. They lied to get the sheeple to vote for a lottery 'cause they said the "money would go to the schools".

Then after the mob started getting their millions in profit from the lottery, lo and behold, the state funding for schools was decreased by <TA-DA> the amount that the thieves at the lottery "gave" to the schools...

It reads to me like one I would have sent the Dems after sucking gamblers' assholes...

Look we really don't have to worry about Nader in 2008, the support that he had from seven years ago had dropped perfusicly because people are starting to see all his bull. If I would worry about indy type of 3rd party candidicy that would be Mike Bloomberg.

Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 12:28 PM by ButterflyBlood
Because the Democrats don't think some guys having a poker game on a Friday night is an insidious threat to society. Shows a lot about Nader.

Anyone who associates with James Dobson on ANYTHING in my view is completely tainted and forever and irredeemably discredited. It is never ACCEPTABLE to align with the Religious Right under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER. NEVER.

By the way do you hate Barney Frank? He is staunchly opposed to any regulations on gambling.
