Zogby: Clinton and Obama defeat all Repubs...Obama stalled, Hillary with momentum...
Edited on Wed Jul-18-07 03:07 PM by SaveElmer
Obama virtually same as last poll...Hillary showing dramatic improvement...

Clinton and Obama statistically tied as far as margin over Repubs go...

As Zogby says

Hillary

Clinton’s move over the past two months has been dramatic. Against Giuliani, Clinton has moved from a five–point deficit (Giuliani 48%–Clinton 43%) to a six–point lead, 47%–41%. Among moderates, Clinton expanded a six–point lead in May (48%–42%) to a massive 24–point edge, now leading Giuliani by a 55% to 31% edge. Against McCain, she went from a 49%–45% deficit among moderates to a strapping 52% to 35% lead – and this against the two moderate Republican leaders in the presidential race.

Obama

Obama’s edge over his prospective Republican rivals remained largely the same as in the May survey.

12. "Obama remains strong." Obama does as well or better matched up against the 4 Rethugs.
Edwards also does as well or better--except for his tie with McCain, which is strange when he is beating the rest of the Republican frontrunners.

Of course, the MOE for the poll is 3.1. Telephone poll of 1012 was taken July 12-14.

15. Correction...

Edwards is behind Guiliani in this poll as well...

And as Zogby's comments clearly show, it is Hillary with the dramatic move upwards...

All totals are within MoE...as far as margin over Repubs

21. whether or not she is unelectable will be decided if we get her as nominee

I dislike having MSM tell me who is electable and who is not, and who our nominee should be - especially this far out.

I truly believe she is so polarizing that the right wing will come out in droves just to defeat her, and many progressives will either vote against her or not vote at all.

2. So would Edwards kick republican ass but they only talk about the too big money candidates!
Edited on Wed Jul-18-07 03:14 PM by GreenTea
They want us to just think about two candidates and only two...one of them MUST be our candidate for the republicans....I recall John Kerry's big lead over Bush in 2004 by these same polls...but left out the great Howard Dean, whom the republicans didn't want and were fearful of!

14. Only when matched up with "loser" McCain and the MOE is 3.1. Edwards does fine.

19. Yes, I misread it. However, Edwards is within the MOE which is 3.1%.

20. Well the real point here...
Is not that Edwards wouldn't beat the Republican candidate...he would...it is that the argument he makes about his electability advantage over Obama and Hillary is eroding fast, and has disappeared altogether if this poll is confirmed with others...

10. Not according to this poll...
Edwards would lose to Guiliani and can do no better than a tie with McCain...

18. But the supposed advantage Edwards claims in electability...
Is predicated on his better showing against Repubs in these polls...that advantage is clearly eroding, and in this poll has disappeared...

I'm not saying he wouldn't beat the Republican candidate, but electability is not a compelling reason to vote for him at this point...

Their candidates pretty much stink!
