BushCo has his sheeple conditioned to think "terra" everytime there's an explosion. Glad the media refused to feed into this for even a minute.

4. I do truly think some of them get a bonus for every time they use the word. |
|
Everytime you hear them say "terrorism" you can almost hear the "ka-ching"

5. In NYC, it's our first fear and needs to be immediately allayed. |
|
Which is what the news responsibly did.
Metro North is still running, but the entrance is kinda hard to get to.

8. Steam, mud, asphalt... |

One guy got hit by rocks on the 27th floor of his building.
When I think how populated that area is, and how few injuries there seem to be, thank you, God. Now we have six injuries confirmed, none serious. So lucky.
It's going to be a mess. But the lights haven't gone out.
Once we know what happened, we cope fine. Terrorism, not terrorism, just so we know. Our bitching privileges are intact.
My sympathies immediately go to the stores in the area. Small businesses always take the brunt of traffic flow interruptions.

10. Exactly! Some woman stood up at work and yelled - GCT has been attacked by terrorists. |
|
It took a few minutes to calm her down. Damn people - I guess no one realizes when we're all scared and disenfranchised, the government has more power over us.

13. And so bloody what if it had been??? |
|
This is what I don't get. If you died in a transformer explosion or steam explosion or a bomb blast, it would be worse if it was a bomb blast? Has the rest of the country been blown up?
NO TERRORIST EVER DESTROYED A CITY. KATRINA AND GEORGE BUSH DID.
The LIRR Port Washington line was shut down today because of extreme flooding. That line never goes down except for deep snow. The storms we're getting have become that bad. To me, that's a whole lot more frightening than an idiot with a bomb.

14. I agree completely. But apparently only 'terrorist attacks' are newsworthy. |
|
...and the effects of global warming aren't. Oh I forgot, the flooding must be because God hates liberals.

The trolls who haunt DU? If this was a big, fat, bomb, New York would go on. Just like London. Just like Tel Aviv. If disaster strikes and you're still alive, you keep living and you keep living your life.
I don't understand the screeching hysteria.

15. Because of the "fear factor", especially after Chertoff's incredibly stupid |

"gut" segue...:eyes:
Unless it was Chertoff's flatulence, from his "gut feeling", it was what it's being called, a steam pipe rupture.
Lot's of pressure in those old pipes, bound to happen sooner or later, and fortunately, no reports of injuries/deaths...O8)

... "terrorism", "explosion", and "New York" equals higher ratings. It's ridiculous that we fall for it every time.
