I didn't like him anyway, but has Harry Reid had anyone else cringing lately when you've heard him use the fair "up or down vote" phrase?.. Just reminds me so much of Bill Frist and the days of the nuclear option. I hoped he'd be better than to use that sort of stupid rhetoric.

of which he was so highly critical when he was in the minority. Using republican dumbed-down rhetoric. "Up or down vote, you should be able to have an up or down vote"... where before he was arguing about how this is the senate and thats not how it works here.

Sorry man, that's just how I see it.
Give Americans more credit and don't buy into the Republican "we're men, they're not" bs.
Harry Reid isn't acting like a macho man (like Bush), but that's OK because the macho men are the ones who've gotten the USA so fucked up. He comes accross as a thinking man, and if that makes him seem like a "pussy" to you then ok...but consider that perhaps YOU are the one with a problem, not him.

I'm asserting to you that men in the majority have voted republican in the last couple presidential elections and asked you why that is? Your response was that my friends are irrelevant, even though they represent the exact reason that the standard male american has not been voting democrat.

25. You said your friends voted Dem in '04. Why? |
|
Why did all those regular guys vote for a party with so many pussies running around?
You're arguing that the Democratic party should attempt to become superficial in order to appease the superficial desires of an electorate. You fail to give any credit to Americans to un-dumb-down themselves after the experiences they've endured for the last 6+ years.
Instead of assuming that Americans will continue to be idiots and complain that a Democratic leader doesn't strike you as manly enough, why not look for the positive and the worthy attributes in the man and talk to your friends about them?
Don't participate in the dumbing down of America, as you've done with this thread.

My friends, I suppose I should correct, are "typical well educated men". The people that put bush back into office are the ones who are not so well educated, the less educated typical male. It's the same issue of being able to respect a man, just that when you have a moron like bush in office and you are smart, you vote for the other guy regardless.

|
A. Normal males/typical swing voters. and.... B. typical well educated men, not likely to put people BACK in office who are not so well educated.
then we really don't have anything to worry about, do we?
Harry Reid can enjoy a level of "pussiness" and we don't have to fear that well educated swing voters like your friends will be so glarinly stupid as to put Republicans back in the white house after they've proven themselfs "not so well educated".
Or are your friends not smart enough to place more importance on ability than a perception of machoism?

It speaks volumes about the narrow and shallow way you're seeing people for you to say that.
John Kerry made a political calculation - a bad one that he was advised to make - not to answer those shitbags.
People need to be who they are. That's what voters expect and respect. Harry Reid is doing just fine.
And Howard Dean and Barrack Obama are not "macho men". They're geniune men, with strength and ability....like Harry Reid.

He really knows how to stick up for himself and defend himself, and he'll do a great job defending all of us. *pulls lever for bush* That is what happened. There were times he calculated. There were times he exploded. There were times he was near tears. If you think he never speaks from his gut then you don't pay attention to him much, which is a problem.
Meanwhile, Harry Reid took on the mob in his own state. If you think he's a "pussy" that's your problem. I assure you he's not.

Well it is quite ridiculous that me saying I didn't like something harry reid said was the most offensive post to you of the evening. Yeah that guy sounds pretty on point actually that you referred to. Maybe me and him will get together and get some true liberals in office, so that the dems can find their balls and stop going along with what bush wants and declaring it a victory. This is exactly my point, you seem to be drawing some sort of line between the two, where thats NOT what the party is about. Why should we not have hippies, tree-huggers, pacifists, as well as military men, tough guys, harley owners, and people of all walks of life in the party? It's like that lame mentality of some dems that are like "OMG, you can't own a gun and be a democrat!" Ridiculous.

51. Why can't hippies, tree-huggers, and pacifists also be manly? |
|
I am called a tree-hugger by people, because I'm concerned about the environment.
I'm also a tough nut. I'm BOTH, understand?
And I'm not unique.
So, maybe - just maybe - you need to consider a wider understanding of the people in this world. You seem to have what you described as a "dumbed-down" impression of reality.

I am a tree hugger too. I'm a tough nut to. I'm BOTH also. I totally understand, that was my point wasn't it, why can't we have both, or be both? I was trying to get the poster on this particular thread to get a wider understanding. You hoped in here and took over for some reason, even though you agree with what I'm saying.

I guess if folks with your attitude were in their place back then, we'd be playing "God Save The Queen?" :eyes:
