Public: No funding with a time table (CBS Poll)
Well there you have it. The public speaks. And 69% say either no funding at all or no funding without a timetable.

We should have held out and refused to fund the occupation of Iraq without some meaningful restrictions. Now Bush already has the money. And he has no reason to compromise anymore.

1. I think you meant "Public: No funding without a time table"
A whopping 69% want to reign in the bush killing and looting spree.

So, why is it continuing unabated?

2. Regardless of what the public says or wants..............
we can't leave our troops twisting in the wind AND we can't let Iraq fall into chaos worse than it already is. The stability of the ENTIRE ME is at stake thanks to the 2 SOBs over in the WH. We're NOT getting out of Iraq for decades unless they ultimately drive 'US' out. Then watch the price of gasoline go to over $10.00/gallon. bushco's destruction will have long lasting affects on our nation and the world.

3. Nonsense
This idea that "we can't let Iraq fall into chaos worse than it already is" is a tired RW talking point. It's already at 100% on the "chaos meter" and it is our presence that is the primary cause of the chaos. That's the bush plan -- keep things fucked up so bad that he can continue to pump from those unmetered oil wells and funnel the money into his and cheney's pockets.

If we pull out today or ten years from now, the result will be the same. The sole differernce is that there will be fewer dead soldiers (and trillions less stolen from the treasury.)

6. Turkey starting some shit
on the border might change dynamics as we sure as hell aren't going to let them get control of the oil in northern Iraq. I see it all getting much worse before it gets better.

4. Always let Rush do your thinking for you.
Iraq was always a civil war waiting to happen. Now it's happened. We can't make it better. All we can do is kill more Iraqis. That is NOT making it better. As for the chaos, it was inevitable from the day we marched in, like arrogant idiots.

As for the stability of the Middle East, they have a lot to settle and it's their business not ours. It was never our business. We always supported Israel, but we are no longer strong enough to protect her. But her enemies may be distracted for a while. Hopefully, we will have rebuilt our military if it should be needed in future. We couldn't conquer a cactus now.

Gasoline will go up because our treasonous Texas oilmen will make sure it does. The MidEast is hardly the only source of oil. Pity we went out of our way to annoy and try to kill Chavez. Venezuela's oil is local.

5. There is enough funding for a six month draw down.
Around 60K Troops and 180K Mercs will stay to protect the Green Zone, Embassy and Oil fields. The Iraqis will kick al Q out and eventually make a political settlement over power and oil.

8. The Shia will definitely kick Al Quaeda out unless the Sunnis get serious Saudi backing

Honestly I don't see a problem with Iraq becoming a client state of Iran in terms of advancing the security of the United States. It's not like it's going to advance them getting a nuclear weapon. I just feel horrible for the women who are going to have to live under an Islamic theocracy because we overthrew their secular regime.

7. This occupation has failed.
We are not a credible stabilizing force in Iraq. The massive corruption of our administration of their country has exposed us as charlatans and victimizers. We will never regain their trust while we occupy their country. We cannot save them now, and no government tainted by us will survive our inevitable cowed withdrawal.
