Off the table onto the waterboard?
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 01:29 PM by MNWild
I just heard a caller suggest this on th Ed Schultz show. Let's just wait for the incoming Democratic President to be inaugurated, then have Bush, Cheney, Gonzo, et al. declared enemy combatants, shipped off to Gitmo and waterboarded. After all, if their inane theories about unitary executive powers are correct, there is nothing to stop their successors from bringing a little cowboy justice to BushCo.

1. Now that's a pretty good idea, BUT, this is even more reason
the Repuks must do everything they can to stay in power.

2. But seriously, is there anything in the law to prevent . . .

Injured parties (soldiers and their families, the warrantlessly wiretapped, taxpayers generally) from hounding them endlessly in civil suits? In other words, the OJ solution?

I for one would be pleased if a day never went by when this whole bunch of sociopaths didn't have a date in court (including The Hague).

3. Even if there were something in the law...
Can you say signing statement?

4. But signing statements have no legal standing (AIUI) . . .
Even when used previously by moderate administrations, they're just a political poncho, not real protection against criminal activity.

5. I think the Democrat who takes office in 2008 should declare martial law and arrest all Republicans

The Right declared war on America when they stole the 2000 election. We will have to take direct action against them eventually. The left and right are going to fight.
