Did you know that postal workers take five hour coffee breaks?
Five minutes of limbaugh a couple times a month and he never lets me down. He was whining this afternoon, his never ending rant about the evil federal government and that it is too big. I wonder if timothy mcveigh was listening to the embarrassment to the state of Missouri in the 90's when he was blathering on about the importance of downsizing the federal government.

2. When People Ask If I Want Health Care To Work Like The Post Office...
I say "YES" - the post office is super reliable and inexpensive. Very, very well run.

5. No kidding
I love the USPS. I have a weird address, and half the time Fedex and UPS claim they can't find it. I always tell the "the post office can find it."

Call Fedex some day and tell them you want to send a letter across country in three days and you're only willing to pay 41 cents. Listen to the howls of laughter.

3. The post office is different that the rest of the gov't agencies
They are self-contained. Meaning that they raise the money that they spend.

Rush picked the wrong gov't agency to make fun of.

8. In 40+ years I've never had problems with the post office
It and the Mint are the two government agencies which are self contained. 41 cents to mail a letter has got to be one of the greatest bargains available to us.

4. NOT IN MY AREA they don't! I've gotten to know several of the
employees over the last 7 years, and believe me, they bust their butts! They've cut back on full time people to next to none, and the PTers just don't stick around long. Even with the nice benefits of the fulltimers, several have quit recently because they're expected to do the work of 3 or 4 people and damn get it done on time!

9. We've had the same
mail delivery lady for 8 years now and she is the sweetest hard working member of a community you could ask for. I know she has a very large (geographically) rural route to cover. I'm amazed that she could squeeze in a long coffee break and do her job.

10. The mail carriers here (on Capitol Hill) climb as many as 13 steps...
at each house (yes, some are at street level, but most have steps).

And most blocks have about 2 dozen houses.

Their legs must be made of steel.

And they always smile.
