The primaries are not over. All the media obituaries in the world cannot change that basic fact.
Support your preferred candidate in the primaries. If your preferred candidate in the primaries has dropped out, take all the time you need to choose another one.
Support your preferred candidate in the general election - whether it's the Democratic nominee or not.
And if you think someone is trying to tell you to do otherwise -- you always have the option of ignoring their advice.
DISUNITY -- who's with me? ;)

3. I am with you but not your candidate! |

How's that for original dissent! :D
Totally agree on your argumentof respecting voters' freedom in primaries, at least until it's a done deal.

4. I for one will never declare ANY unity with people who |

Call for purges and accuse those who want to continue the debate for the good of the nation of "treason."
Never.

7. Disunity makes us stronger! |

Especially when we use RW cites to spread rumors against our clear frontrunner.

8. I'm talking about positive disunity |
|
In which, for example, people who don't like Kerry actually work to defeat him by promoting another candidate, rather than tearing him (Kerry) down.

"Support your preferred candidate in the general election - whether it's the Democratic nominee or not."
I just woke up so I'm a little blurry. :)

12. Actually, yes, and here's why |

Arguments against voting for third parties, Nader, etc. frequently boil down to denying people choices. This is a surefire way to make enemies, especially when people already feel disempowered by the system.
IMHO to make a decent argument against a third party, supporters of the Democratic nominee need to make a case that voting for the Dem is a better choice, without denying the person's right to make the other choice. For me, four more years of Bush is enough motivation, but watching a million Nader flamefests has convinced me that not all share my outlook.
Also I was getting a little tired of the calls for unity. I support Kerry's candidacy, but at least let him earn it!

9. Disunity throws off Rove |
|
and keeps us and the primaries in the public eye. If this becomes a coronation too early, the news media will quit giving us as much newstime, and Rove will rev up his spin machine big time.

11. I actually agree with you |
|
Support your preferred candidate until which time we have a nominee. After we have a nominee, get your ass squarely behind the candidate with the (D) after his name. Don't take your ball and go home. Disunity right now is fine, to the point that such disunity doesn't hurt the party (i.e. unscrupulous rumor mongering against any of our candidates).
Unity after we have a nominee is essential.

13. All candidates should stay in the race as long as they possibly |
|
can to throw the BFEE off and let them sweat it out wondering who they will be taking on! The longer it takes the more media attention the Dems will have.
