Poll: 63% Say Clinton "Likely" To Win

CBS) A new CBS News/New York Times poll out Thursday shows 63 percent of voters believe it's likely that Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton will be elected the first woman president in U.S. history if she wins her party's nomination.

While opinions about the New York senator are strongly divided by gender, majorities of both men (59 percent) and women (65 percent) surveyed think it's very or somewhat likely Clinton will win the presidency.

Even most Republicans (53 percent) think Clinton will win — as do 77 percent of Democrats.

The poll shows Clinton continuing to hold a solid lead over the rest of the Democratic field. Among likely Democratic primary voters, she has a 43-24 percent edge over her closest rival, Sen. Barack Obama. Former Sen. John Edwards is third at 16 percent. (Come on John you can do it!).

The sample size needed to get a reasonable margin of error in a question like this is about 700-1000 randomly selected respondents. What are the chances that they would call you? Even if they did how much larger would the 23% of Democtrats have been who didn;t think she'd win? Just because you don't like the result is no reasonm to start doubting established probability theory.

DU may be an echo chamber dominated by anti-Hillary voices but it's very silly indeed to extrapolate that to Democrats in general, let alone moderats and independents too.

6. It's interesting is that the odds on her being President has dropped
from 2:3 in May to 1:3 now on tradesports.com. I'm not sure why there is a decline.
