NH-Sen: Sununu shows weakness all around Hotlist

University of New Hampshire (PDF). 7/9-17. All adults. MoE 4.3% (No trend lines)

Sununu (R) 38
Shaheen (D) 54

Sununu (R) 42
Marchand (D) 38

Sununu (R) 43
Swett (D) 39

Sununu (R) 44
Buckey (D) 28

The low-profile Jay Buckey is a former astronaut and current university professor. That he holds Sununu to 44 percent suggests that we've seen the Republican incumbent's ceiling. He can't muster a bare majority against the least-known Democrat in the field. Liebercrat Katrina Swett and Portsmouth major Steve Marchand both are within striking distance of Marchand, suggesting this will be one of our best pickup opportunities even if former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen doesn't enter the race.

If Shaheen enters, and all indications are that she'll announce her run in September, then Sununu is as good as history. And given his continued rubberstamping for Bush on Iraq, he's only got one direction (down) to go.........

1. One can only hope.

Every Rethug, not to mention how many Dems, has blood on their hands while they seem to only feign caring. How grateful I am for karma; keeps me contentedly going along my own path instead of falling down theirs.
