Free Republic is still waiting for money from the RNC.
An update on my previous posts on the subject of Free Republic fund-raising:

I believe that Free Republic is not (any longer) an open and independent forum for conservatives. Instead, it is part of the official Republican plan to propagandize the public.

I've watched FR's fund-raising drives for years and they always go the same way. Contributions piddle along, making pitiful progress until -- usually overnight -- a large infusion of funds comes in from SOMEWHERE -- and all of a sudden, the fund-raising is back on track.

For about three weeks now, the Freepers have been pretending to solicit funds from rank-and-file members while actually waiting for the Republican Party to make its customary huge donations. In three weeks, they had only attained 34% of their total fund goal. But one night a few days ago, a full 40% of what was needed came in overnight, bringing the total to 76%.

Today, five days later, the Freepers have only managed to add a piddling 5% to that goal. So right now, the Freeper fund-raising drive has reached 81% of what they want -- at least half of which came in one mysterious donantion.

It's a cinch that the RNC wants FR to stay on the Net, so I predict that the Republican Party will soon be making yet ANOTHER donation to Free Republic (while not admitting it). I expect the remaining 19%, or most of it, to come in suddenly, overnight, within the next few days.

Untli then, The Freepers have no choice but to wait for their masters to feed them.

4. They don't
In the past, when members asked for an accounting JimRob's scythe swung free and bloody. At least two alternative sites have been founded by FR members who dared ask where the money was going and were summarily dismissed from FR.

All I can say is the money can't go to Web Development. That's the most archaic forum design I've seen in 10 years.

5. It could be from a sugar daddy, too
and the names Scaife, Walton, Koch, and a few others come to mind immediately. Several thousand bucks is a weekend's dinner for those folks, maybe a month's shoelace budget.

It would be interesting to find out who the sugar daddy is. I am pretty sure it's not the RNC because they are hurting for contributions at this point.
