Obama's Girls Are Curious About Obama Girl
This is cute. Barack Obama's 2 young daughters have questions. they are worried about this Obama girl and what she wants with daddy.
So, they asked their mommy about her...

Obama's girls have heard of Obama Girl _ and asked their parents about the racy Web video.

"I tell them that it's, you know, the way people are sometimes," Michelle Obama, wife of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama and mother to Sasha, 6, and Malia, 9, said Friday.

Michelle Obama was referring to "I Got A Crush On Obama," a music video created by an aspiring model and actress named Amber Lee Ettinger, aka Obama Girl. The song, which has lines like "Universal health care reform, it makes me warm," and "You can Barack me tonight," has gotten more than 2.5 million hits and 7,500 comments since being posted last month on YouTube, the online video-sharing site.

Obama said she and her husband reassured their daughters, after Sasha asked, "Daddy, you have Mommy, right?"

Michelle Obama also commented on the Oprah fundraiser coming up:

"That'll be nice. I don't know the details of it, but Oprah has been a supporter from day one," Michelle Obama said. "She is committed to doing many, many things, this is just one of the ... many things that she's going to be doing on behalf of the campaign and we're excited about it."

5. When my daughter was Sasha and Malia's age (mid 80's mind you)

We had MTV :) Lots of questions, but mostly about why she couldn't marry Donny from NKTB. I told her, because he's from Massachusetts and we live in Virginia.

Ok "Michelle", I do not believe a daughter as young as yours asked such a question, at that age, feeling threatened by OBama Girl (which I enjoyed, great snark!).

Don't make me sic Elizabeth on you :eyes:

Edit: Adjusted the 80's timeframe

7. I didn't like the video. It is embarrassing.
I guess I am of the old wave feminists. I don't like sexualizing the presidential campaign. I don't think it is cute at all.
When I was younger woman like Betty Friedan and Gloria Steinam spoke up eloquently against trivializing women or men as sexual objects.
I think that sex should be a joyful human experience, but not a sales tool for cars or presidents.

I think it makes it hard on young girls to understand what is appropriate in how women should relate to their father.
It is not cute. And after Bill Clinton it really is not cute.

12. There are consultants who feel "sex" sells in today's culture.
The rise of Reality TV and American Idol means that you can reach young people if you can sell sex appeal with a good message.

It's marketing.

13. I watched it and thought the same thing
It encompasses every stereotype of women not having the capacity to support a candidate above that level. As a woman I found it degrading, but that's just my opinion.

9. She sounds like such a great mom!
I heart Michelle Obama!

"Children need to know that they're first, and as long as they do, they're good with whatever you decide to do as an adult," she said.

I liked it. And the followup "debate" video is a trip, too.

(Mama Obama's response was just right :).
