Edwards agrees to debate Kucinich, Clinton
Was that ever posted on DU??

http://kucinich.us/node/4825
Submitted by Press Secretary on Tue, 2007-07-17 20:12.

Former U.S. Senator John Edwards, under fire for his unintendedly overheard discussion with Sen. Hillary Clinton regarding eliminating other Presidential candidates from future debates, tonight accepted the invitation of MSNBC host Chris Matthews to a three-way debate with Clinton and U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich on national television.

3. that would be a great thing!
In depth coverage is what the corporate media fears most. It is not good to have to reveal details about how corporations are screwing the country. Any in depth conversation with a progressive is dangerous to the status quo.

4. Can Some One Help Me With This?
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 11:08 PM by iamjoy
"Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina and the Democrats’ vice presidential candidate in 2004, and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., were captured on open microphones criticizing Kucinich, D-Ohio, by name after an NAACP candidates forum last week."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19814631/

When, in their post debate dicusssion, did Hillary or Edwards mention Kucinich by name other than when Hillary said hello to him?

5. Didn't but then they are probably getting it from Fox news
just like the transcription of what they were saying. Kucinich validated Fox news by saying he was being left out. So now he gets his 15 minutes of fame, with Clinton and Edwards. Big whoop......like the entire country is going to tune in and go ga-ga over him. Hell, I think many people will look at the screen and ask what Dukakis is doing up there.

Not every one has cable, not every one turns to msnbc (I certainly don't) and when is Matthews on? If there is ANYTHING else worth watching, no one but political junkies will be watching.

Can you say divided we fall?

6. That's What I Wondered
I listened to the tape and saw some of the transcripts, I don't see that HIllary or Edwards ever mentioned a candidate by name as being "not serious"

Although I am supporting Edwards, I am not totally convinced he and Hillary were just talking about having a couple smaller debates (vs. the format that has been used). However, now that the question has been raised, I think it is good of Edwards and Hillary to actually attend the smaller debate and not have a "scheduling conflict."

Dennis is going to rail at them, because neither one of them are absolute liberals. In the long run, that may do them a favor. Even amongst many solid progressives, Dennis will always have at least a portion of our hearts, but not our minds. Hopefully, the candidate who can appeal to people's hearts and minds will win our nomination, and lead us to victory in 2008.

8. What does Kucinich continue to promote a Faux Noise smear?
There is no evidence that HRC and JE were plotting to eliminate other candidate from debates.

10. This can only hurt Edwards and Clinton since Kucinich has nothing to lose
Giving Kucinich equal air time with Edwards and Clinton is going to provide some possible gaffes and a focus on Edwards and Clinton that will be easy to be scrutinized by Kucinich.

Look for analysts saying that Kucinich won...he's going to go for the jugular.

11. I hope Hillary declines..
Kucinich is a disaster waiting to happen. For the life of me, I don't understand what Edwards was thinking by agreeing to Kucinich's invitation.

Play it safe? Obama talking to Kindergardners?

As the Pentagon battles Hillary Clinton on the war in Iraq, Barack Obama argues about kindergarteners. What a contrast.

14. Yes, I would love HRC to stop a war that has killed thousands, wasted billions, and one she was for!

Sorry Hillary, but you are five years too late. Five years too late after you give a nutcase and his cronies the authorization to do whatever they want in Iraq. Be proud of that!

Obama's spew to Edwards...so, why is Obama worried about Kindergartners and the sand box?..

You can rest assured when Hillary is president, the War is over!

Meanwhile, you'll have to live with this:

July 20, 2007 Politics

NJ New Jersey poll: Clinton 46%, Obama 20%, Edwards 10%

July 20, 2007 CNN

South Carolina poll: Hillary 43%, Obama 27%, Edwards 17%

"Deep ties through her husband's presidency are helping Clinton, who has lagged Obama in building an organization in South Carolina. Obama had been expected to do well in South Carolina, where half of the early voting state's Democratic voters are black."

A hypocrite? Why is he agreeing to a debate that cuts out the other lesser candidates?
