the Democrats should use this excellent cartoon to emphasize their argument:

1. There's hardly anybody left with whom to argue the point.
All the right wingers who used to send me political emails have stopped sending them, or they just send non-political things now.

4. That's happened to me too
The political stuff I get isn't even about American issues. It's about the state of Venezuelan socialism or politics in Eastern bloc countries before the end of the cold war like those systems have anything to do with American democrats. Deep down they know that their guy fucked up everything so this is their way to stay in the political game.

6. Let me guess: They're all libertarians now, right?
And they say both political parties are bad. Not like they ever voted for The Decider or anything. They're all independent free thinkers. Rush told them to say so.

7. They've actually recanted their votes
I got three republicans to tell me that they wish they hadn't voted for GWB the second time. They're not libertarians, they just want to poke holes in theoretical liberalism that no major Democrat is talking about. They can't actually talk about the economy because they know its in the shitter and I can actually refute their claims with facts. So they prefer to talk about the welfare state and how corrosive it is and throw out these arguments that you can never actually prove or disprove.

8. Wait a minute, I thought the economy was booming.
It must be true because I heard somebody say it on the TV.

9. You should really start listening to the liberal media
Watch more Fox News. They'll give it to you straight.

2. Did they actually say this
Because if they did there right, because of all the time that has to be spent in Iraq, Afghanistan a country that seemed stable at one point is slowly creeping back into the hands of Al-Quida and now there slowly but steadly regrouping. This wouldn't of happened if we never invaded Iraq then we could of focused all of our resources on Afghanistan you know, the country where most of the 9/11 hijackers and Osama Bin Laden were at, the county that had connections to 9/11.

3. It's more like an excellent paraphrase
Rather than put it this way, Al Qaeda has said things more like... how wonderful is it that the US invaded Iraq, where it shall be broken, which Al Qaeda will assist, blah blah... that sort of thing.

5. At this point the body of evidence is pretty large
U.S. vs. Vietnam, Soviets vs. Afghanistan. The insurgents have learned the lesson that if they can bog down the superpower for long enough for them to lose their patience then the insurgents can call it a victory and use it as a rallying cry.

This whole war is a complete, total and utter disaster from idea conception to current management. We keep saying that on this site but we shouldn't forget how truly bad of a situation this is.
