Even though, if this passes, my husband and I will pay a lot more in taxes... It's still an idea I can (and do) get behind! More at link: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hedgetax21jul21,0,3553885.story?coll=la-home-centerI think it's way past time for the rich to pay their fair share of taxes!

need the money or aren't benefitting from the government anyway.
I remember some RW pundit yammering about how if the Democrats win a middle class household will pay $1800 more in taxes.
"Cheap at twice the price" I thought.

Rich folks already have!
Why should they get more?
I want the tax situation to be a lot more equitable...

8. and did anyone come back to refute the $1,800? |
|
Even if you give it to him as the accurate number, you quickly lose 1/3 to 1/2 that number in increased gas prices for one car. (Assuming 12k per year and an increase only to $3.00 per gallon from the $1.92 in 2000) How many families have one car? Mine two, so 2/3 to all of it is gone, then let's add one of the favorite Right wing theories of trickle down economics. If fuel costs more and almost of of the goods I buy require transportation to get them to me then there goes the rest of the savings. Oh wait, for those of us in CA that got raped in the energy debacle our electrical bill doubled. (Basically $100 per month more.) So conservatively figuring out the tax break vs energy increase, Average Joe is down about $1,200 per year in constant $s.

3. My dear CaliforniaPeggy! |
|
You're a liberal! (You told me to call you that!)
In a couple weeks voters in my county will be voting on whether to raise a millage for our community college. And statewide, there is a huge debate on whether to raise taxes.
You're right - everyone needs to pay their fair share!

It's time for everyone to pay their fair share.....
Why is this so difficult?
Well, actually, I know the answer to that...
Some rich folks are selfish...
