The admin. STILL names Zarqawi as justification for "al Qaeda" being in Iraq before our invasion
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 12:47 PM by jenmito
Just this morning, Michael McConnell was asked by Tim Russert if al Qaeda was in Iraq before we invaded, and he answered that Zarqawi was there and "pledged loyalty to bin Laden" in 2004 (AFTER we invaded). Russert let this go unchallenged, when he SHOULD have pointed out that not only was Zarqawi not a member of al Qaeda when he was in Iraq, but Saddam was trying to ARREST him-hardly justification that "al Qaeda was in Iraq before we invaded." Why does NOBODY ever bring this up? EVERYONE in the admin. uses Zarqawi as THE proof that al Qaeda was in Iraq. IT'S A LIE!!! Here's proof about Saddam trying to arrest Zarqawi:

"Newly released documents from the captured Iraqi archives show that Saddam had put out an APB for Zarqawi and was trying to have him arrested as a danger to the Baath regime!"

(Not to mention that our govt. passed on a chance to get Zarqawi before the invasion, when he was in the northern part of Iraq, because they thought it would weaken their case to invade).

3. Who would you expect to correct these people? Other than (help me
someone) the woman (good grief I can't think of her name) on the McLaughlin group, who ever takes the dems side.

6. Eleanor Cliff?
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 01:24 PM by jenmito
I'd think someone like David Shuster or Katrina VandenHeuvel, or Keith Olbermann could mention it, Helen Thomas could ask about it, etc.

7. YES! Eleanor Cliff. Thank you. I think the people you named would
object to outright bullshit like that but they aren't part of the horrific Sunday morning line up of republican shills.

8. You're welcome...true, but...
there ARE some Sunday morning people who SHOULD point it out. How about Juan Williams on Fox Noise Sunday? David Gregory would've maybe pointed out the lie but ever since he danced with Rove he's changed, it seems.

4. I saw him
It was pretty appalling. Russert read from his book which did a fairly good job of criticizing the admin's twisting and spinning; he stood by what he had said; then he proceeded to do it himself.

5. It's like Lenny Bruce said, "Lie, even if they have pictures."
He'd have so much to say about today's hyocracy and malice.

I really wish I was able to be one of these people with a show. I get soooo mad at these people who let the Repubs. get away with so many lies!

13. Russ Feingold was on right after this guy...
HE could've said something about his lie that Zarqawi was in al Qaeda before we invaded and pointed out that Saddam was trying to ARREST him and was not harboring him.
