CIA to continue 'enhanced interrogations'

The United States will persist with techniques of interrogating
terror suspects that have saved "countless lives", but will stop
short of torture, the US National Intelligence director says.

Mike McConnell has refused to spell out whether methods such as
the alleged practice of 'waterboarding' were permitted under a
new executive order of President George W Bush.

"The United States does not engage in torture. This executive order
spells it out," Mr McConnell said.

But he has indicated that the implied threat of torture has reaped
dividends in extracting life-saving information from detainees.

1. These guys are ridiculous
We know these are criminal acts. How can they be allowed to publicly debate whether these crimes will continue or not? Will anyone stand up to them and call them what they are?
