Do Hillary and Bill Clinton look happy together?
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 07:10 PM by TeamJordan23
Before I say anything, I think Hillary's relationship with Bill should have NO bearing on whether she should be our nominee or not.

Given that, I was watching some C SPAN coverage of the different campaigns. Watching the Clintons on the campaign trail, it just seems like Bill and Hillary do not really have a personal connection. Elizabeth and John Edwards look happy together as a couple. So do Michelle and Barack. But it seems like something is different about Bill and Hillary. Sometimes, I feel like Hillary and Bill are sort of just together primary for political reasons, although I don't believe it. It might just be a political strategy too keep each Clinton sort of individualistic.

I don't know, I can be totally off with my observation. And none of us really knows or will know what really goes on with them. What do you guys think?

38. They were the first couple, in 1992, to show the world ........
....another way for a marriage between two professionals to be positive and supportive. One did not have to 'give up, give in or sacrifice' family, career or dreams in order for the other to succeed.

To me they are a great inspiration! A positive relationship beteen two working professionals who are both brilliant, energetic about life and work and each of whom is deeply caring. I think they may see their work in the world, the opportunity to improve the lives of others, as something greater than the sum of the two of them. I also think they are caring and even romantic. After all, each couple has their own style. Many couples are private about their feelings. The Clintons are no different in these ways. But, they are two extraordinary treasures as individuals and an extraordinary couple, in my opinion.

68. me neither
but Hillary a lot more than Bill even. yet if she's the nominee, which is a possibility I dread, I will hold my nose and vote for her... the worst Democrat is clearly still drastically better than the best Republican. I really am disappointed with how many democrats who should know better (obviously just my opinion) have jumped on her bandwagon. I am completely supportive of the idea of women as leaders, but would like to see one who got there for reasons beyond the fact that she's married to the former president. Barbara Boxer comes to mind as a women I'd love to see as president...

39. .....hmmm. No surprises here. When I was first married....
.....someone gave advice about passion and years. The prevailing opinion seems to be that as a couple moves through years together, they do become more like partners than lovers. Seeing the Clintons together though, I think there is a LOT of warmth and sincere respectful caring between them-- perhaps even still some passion from time to time. With their schedules, it must be hard to have much private time together. How is this different from any other busy, successful couple you may know?

8. Wow. Who are any of us to judge? It is a snapshot of a moment in time at any rate. Even if they
appear unhappy what makes anyone think they know what it is about? Might have nothing to do with their relationship. Also I think you are buying what the right wing is selling. They love to give people that idea. I can see why, it obviously works! And it doesn't matter which side of the isle you are on just repeat it enough and it will become the truth. Our sheepish nature is proven over and over.

37. I think the Clintons are totally happy with each other....
Well, some of us would view them as a normal relationship and ponder what all that philandering was about if the relationship was all that strong. Well, such pondering is not politically correct. And besides it is way beside the point.

The Clinton's are first and foremost a political union. I think they enjoy each other's company much the same way two business partners enjoy conquering the Monopoly board. I don't think anything you or I think of as a normal couple applies to the Clintons. They are doing their thing, love doing it, much the same way two tychoons enjoy participating in a takeover bid....

Now, nobody is passing judgment. But I am thankful that is not what my relationship is about. You couldn't give me enough money or power or fame if that was the price I had to pay....

her emotions, and the expressions of them, are more controlled.

That doesn't mean she doesn't love Bill -- it means her feelings aren't written all over her face. We're not privy to them.

54. I think they are happy together, but I view their relationship as something different
Not a relationship that began with physical lust,

but with intellectual lust.

Does that make sense?

They are bound together by the fact that they are both excellent politicians.

Sometimes people need a partner & a best friend that is intellectually on the same level as they are.

I know another couple like that. They're not politicians, but they are both geniuses, literally.
They are as different as nite and day, but they belong together because the two of them can sit and talk for hours about stuff that most people could care less about. And that's how I view the Clintons.
