OBAMA WINS CNN FOCUS GROUP
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/07/23/285944.aspx

The Obama camp was quick out of the gate -- about 30 minutes after the debate ended -- with a press release containing a transcript of a report of CNN's focus group watching the debate.

Wolf Blitzer: Mary Snow is out in Manchester, New Hampshire, the state with the first primary watching this with some voters who are undecided, Mary, and what kind of sense did you get from those voters?

Mary Snow: Well, Wolf, there's a surprise here tonight. We're here with 24 Democrats, independents, who thought that Senator Hillary Clinton would be the best performer here tonight, but the results that we just got in, this is a focus group; show that Barack Obama got the most favorable in terms of the best performance from the 24 people who are here tonight. Of course, it's unscientific and coming in second senator Joe Biden and third John Edwards. Again, this is all unscientific results from this focus group, but clearly throughout this debate Senator Barack Obama was showing some favorable responses to his answers. Some of the things that he got favorable responses were when he talked about fighting lobbyists, particularly on health care. Wolf.

4. Obama did great...the others did well also
Gravel gets on my nerves a bit with his grandstanding, but all the others did well also.

13. Biden second in the undecided poll in "New Hampshire"
It's a wonder he scored that well considering he got so few questions and especially the shorter time allowed to answer.

8. That's Particularly Impressive That They Changed Their Minds
They thought Mrs. Clinton would win - but decided that Obama actually had. This is very, very big.

(Of course we all know that resistance is futile, and Mrs. Clinton will certainly be the Democratic nominee - but Obama is putting up a cute little fight. Perhaps he'll be permitted to carry Carville's spittoon in the Clinton II administration.)

10. I thought Obama did very well tonight. Also, Edwards, Biden,
Dodd, Kucinich and Richardson. Of course, I'm biased in favor of Hillary; but they all were stupendous. Gravel made some points that I agreed with, too.

12. Obama did well
Hillary I thought did well too. With Hillary it was apparent that she has the most experience, that is experience being in front of a camera and bsing.

I realized from watching tonite that part of my lack of enthusiasm for Hillary, apart from her triangulation and unelectability, is that I am simply TIRED of her. I have seen the same basic schtick from her for 15 years. The same polished carefully worded look right in the camera answers that sound good but lack specifics. If she is elected and re-elected, that would be 23 years.

What an underwhelming thought.

14. Its hard to pick a winner tonight.
Hillary was effing stunning, in the kinda terrifying sort of way I associate with Lions at hunt. She just exuded competence. On the other hand, her choice of clothes and manner gave me this sense that she was above the other candidates, almost as a moderator or something, so its hard to compare her at a gut feeling level to them. But if I had too, yeah I would say Obama or Edwards.

15. To be fair he was given the most time to speak:

I'm not bashing Obama, because I think he'd make a great President (he's my 3rd choice after Kucinich and Edwards). However, it's interesting that he and HRC received considerably more time to speak.

18. Obama should have done well.
He had more time and more Questions. I would guess 15 to 18 minutes for Obama, and 5 minutes for Biden.

20. I like him, I'd have sex with him, but he's too green for me
And I mean too inexperienced to be president at this time. I think he would make a wonderful VP and go on to be President after that. He was in the top three for sure, and look at these cute ears he has.... BJ handles. :P
