1. And 'We the People' must take it away now.
How many more people must die, how many more freedoms must we lose while we wait for another fixed election? :dem:

3. HOW?? How is he going to take it away? It's a good sound bite
but actions speak louder than words.

What, as President, can he legally DO to take power away from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and oil companies?

4. his plan calls for allowing everyone to buy into medicare for cheap
He will force them out of business with the cheapest and most efficient game in town. He also plans to outlaw pre-existing conditions.

5. "Allowing" or "forcing" everyone into Medicare?
Is forcing all these companies out of business going to be good for health care overall, and for the economy?

7. well others want to immediately kill these insurance companies
Which would throw those employees out of work immediately. Edwards slow death would almost be like free market forces doing their thing.

Also note that other companies would be able to reduce their health insurance costs and thus would have more money to grow their business and hire workers.

9. from his plan:
"New Health Care Markets. The U.S. government will help states and groups of states create
regional Health Care Markets, non-profit purchasing pools that offer a choice of competing insurance
plans. At least one plan would be a public program based upon Medicare. All plans will include
comprehensive benefits, including full mental health benefits. Families and businesses could choose to
supplement their coverage with additional benefits. The markets will be available to everyone who
does not get comparable insurance from their jobs or a public program and to employers that choose to
join rather than offer their own insurance plans."

8. Achieving Energy Independence & Stopping Global Warming Through A New Energy Economy
Our generation must be the one that ends our nation's dependence on oil and ushers in a new energy economy. We need energy independence from unstable and hostile areas of the world, from global warming pollution, and from the old ways of doing business. If we harness American ingenuity to reach for transformative change, we can emerge from the crisis of global warming with a new energy economy that stimulates innovation, brings the family farm back to life, and creates more than 1 million jobs in America's farms and industries. Today, John Edwards called for America to embrace three great goals for this generation:

* Halt global warming by capping and reducing greenhouse gas pollution and leading the world to a new global climate change treaty.
* Create a new energy economy and 1 million new jobs by investing in clean, renewable energy, sparking innovation, a new era in American industry, and life in family farms.
* Meet the demand for new electricity through efficiency for the next decade, instead of producing more power.

As a result of the Edwards plan, by 2025 America will import 7.5 million fewer barrels of oil a day, produce 65 billion gallons of ethanol and other biofuels a year, generate 25 percent of our electricity from renewable sources, and produce more than 2 billion fewer tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year. Within a generation, America's cars and trucks will be virtually petroleum-free.
