The dumbest question in the debate
Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 11:29 AM by question everything
of whether Clinton, being a woman -that she does not deny - can negotiate with Muslim leaders who consider women as second class citizens.

My initial reaction was - what about Madeleine Albright?

The same thing could have been said about the Middle East countries prohibiting Jews from entering - except that Henry Kissinger always found the door open.

The leaders of Muslim countries are no dummies. If the president of the United States is a woman, or a Jew - s/he will be treated with respect.

1. I guess that Condi isn't a woman in their eyes?
What a stupid question.

2. "Senator Clinton, isn't it true that you are, in fact, a woman?"
Hillary: "I'll leave that for others to decide."

3. I wonder if being a woman ever deterred old Margaret Thatcher
from anything. Or Indira Gandhi. Or Elizabeth Tudor. Or Isabella Trastamara.

They act like this is something new. What jackasses.

4. Margaret Thatcher was a WOMAN? Are you sure?
I always wondered about her. She always made me think of Dame Edna, minus the specs.

13. That's what I hear. I have no PERSONAL knowledge but I do
understand that she gave birth to a son (Mark) who tried to overthrow the government of an African country, Equatorial Guinea to be exact. I think that that would probably mean she was more female than male.

5. Damn good thing they screened the questions.
It would be bad to let a real dumb one sneak in.

6. She should have mentioned that Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, and the Philippines...
have all been led by women at one point in time.

7. I think that question was meant to put doubt in the minds...
...of some dim-witted Americans. CNN picked some really mediocre questions imo ~ hard to believe those were the best submitted!

8. While it may be dumb question--it illustrates
there are people who are concerned the " woman issue"
is alive and well.

I am not saying this is a good thing--just a fect of life
and campaigns need to prepare it.

9. That one irked me
too. Why did they even alow such a question? How many countries now have women as their leaders but for we have to be not only backward but proud of it. It's a non issue.

Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 11:26 AM by SteppingRazor
Even if we accept the questioner's proposition — that Muslim countries will not deal seriously with a female president — are we to vote for our president based upon how they will be treated by other countries? Are we to let the will of other nations exert itself upon our electoral process?

And didn't the Republicans get all up in arms in 2004 about "global tests"? Or did I just imagine that?

12. Gee - I wonder if they know that our CURRENT FAILURE - condi - is a woman?
But wait - that SUPPORTS their biases...not the emphasis I wanted to point out...

Of course, maybe she prooves his point - that since condi is such an asswipe and can't even piss in a pot, then maybe ANY woman would be bad (that's THEIR "logic" not mine...and not at all the emphasis I wanted to make...)

What these repukes fail to mention is that if the PERSON, or in this case, THE ENTIRE CRIMINAL MISADMINISTRATION - made up of MEN - is criminally INCOMPETANT, then you can't expect anything good to come of it...
