GOP fundraiser to feature machine gun shoot
MANCHESTER – City Republicans will be packing some serious firepower at their next party fundraiser.

Tired of the usual chicken dinners, the Manchester Republican Committee is planning to arm supporters next month with Uzis, M-16 rifles and other automatic weapons for a day of target practice at a Pelham firing range.

"The thought just struck me one day: a machine gun shoot. What the heck?" said Jerry Thibodeau, the committee chairman.

2. 2nd amendment porn for the chickenhawk crowd
waving flags and sporting their 2 inch hardons while proclaiming undying devotion to the party; and not ever doing anything for our country. Today's GOP.

4. More good stuff...
Thibodeau's own experience with machine guns began at 18, he said, when a friend and his father took him out to fire rounds in a sand pit.

The experience, he said, was powerful.

"It's a way of expressing yourself, I guess," he said. "We all have a little testosterone in us, right?"

My $.02: If Jerry Thibodeau found this so exciting, why didn't he do what I did and enlist in the Army? I got to fire M-16s, M-60s, M-249s, and direct 105 and 155 MM artillery fire, and I got PAID!

6. funny you should mention that
In fact, gun clubs are one of the latest tentacles used by the vast right-wing conspiracy for its own recruiting.

Phew, I was imagining an hour of googling to try to remember who these people are, but somebody has it for me right off:

Campus gun club

Gun Owners of America and the Leadership Institute are working together to create gun clubs on campus. GOA provides the details: ...

I'll quote the original for the rest:

Rep. Stockman Helping GOA Start Gun Clubs On Campus

Do you know someone who is pro-gun, who likes working with college age kids, and who is in need of a full-time job in the fall?

Well if so, former Rep. Steve Stockman (R) has a deal for him.

Stockman is the Director of the Campus Leadership Program (CLP) in northern Virginia. The CLP is a project of the Leadership Institute, which trains conservative activists and places them in key level positions around the country -- both in government and the media.

The CLP project focuses specifically on college campuses, helping conservative students start independent groups that are fighting to reclaim the campus from decades of leftist abuses. The CLP has started 722 conservative clubs in schools in all 50 states.

But they have very few gun clubs, which is something they would like to change.

That's why this is a unique opportunity for someone who likes working with college-aged kids. They can help the pro-gun cause in the fall by starting a GOA gun club on campus or by working as a field representative. Every field rep who starts a gun group will be paid between $400-500. Kids can make as much as $1,000 a week. ...

The Leadership Institute's Campus Leadership Program (CLP) affiliates itself with conservative organizations such as Gun Owners of America (GOA) and recruits paid field representatives to identify and train conservative students to form clubs. Since 1997, CLP has helped start 738 conservative student groups that are currently in existence. Forty-one of those student groups identify themselves as gun clubs.

Of course, these "leadership" recruiters also get their kicks from the recruitment process itself, by being provacateurs ...

7. I meant Military recruiters....
not that I am extremely pro- or anti-, but I figure if they want to shoot so badly and support the war, perhaps they should sign up. It's a match made in heaven.
