your work on Civil Rights and Justice.Thank you for bringing contempt charges today.Thank you for being the type of legislator all congressmen should be.And thank you for continuing to be a great legislator in the face of absurd harassment from those who ought to support you ,and at a time of life you could just cash it in and retire,Thank you ,Sir, for everything!

47. I'm sorry I blinked... what happened?
What did he do?
I'm way over in Europe and I didn't see anything in the news section of DU on what he may have done today

4. He was simply great today.....he played his chairmanship just perfectly.
Let the Republicans make fools of themselves and got the citation out of committee on a straight Party line vote.

Thanks John!

17. One of my cherished items
When Conyers put out the book What Went Wrong in Ohio he was offering signed copies for a certain $$ amount. I had some extra bucks at the time and got one!

I also posted a suggestion for us to sent him a donation via ActBlue just the other day to show appreciation.

http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/634

WooHoo!! When I donated the other day there were only 2 donations!! Now there are 21!

19. Thank you for doing this
Conyers has been willing to push issues when few would and has taken enormous grief over it.

Cindy Sheehan has a right to her opinion, but hitting the people who most often have done the controversial difficult things makes no sense. He has a right not to do what she wants. (She's not even his constituent.)

congressmen for doing the job they were hired for...but it is a good idea to thank them, let them know we are happy with what they are doing...maybe they will keep on doing their jobs right...I just hope they follow through on this and not let it just hang there..

The things that Conyers has done aren't required in the job description of a Congressman. When someone goes above and beyond, you praise and thank them.

Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 07:52 PM by sandnsea
I fear what will happen when those who remember the battles are gone. I understand the holocaust survivors more all the time. It does seem it's too easy to forget your own history. As if some of these people wouldn't turn the world upside down to end that war or get rid of Bush, if they had that power. It just isn't that easy.

51. The Rs fear this great citizen. If he was not sooo busy, Election 2004 would be subject
of a hearing. So much has gone bad since 2004, far greater problems must come first, like impeachment. I suspect that their is an underlying acknowledgment operating in DC Dem circles already, "2000 and 2004 were stolen" period.

From the Conyers Report: "... we find that there were massive and unprecedented voter irregularities and anomalies in Ohio. In many cases these irregularities were caused by intentional misconduct and illegal behavior...."

"... it is imperative that we examine any and all factors that may have led to
voting irregularities and any failure of votes to be properly counted."

And John Conyers tops the list. We need to focus on all the good people we have and all the good things they're doing. If we give people like John Conyers our support, perhaps lesser statesmen/women will attempt to emulate them instead of playing politics every minute of every day.
