Impeachment Off The Table - BUT........ |
|
what if the Dems plan is this.
We know that the impeachment route is too long and fraught with landmines for the Dems.
But -
Through the hearings process (both in the House and Senate) they are illustrating just how corrupt this administration is. Soon there will be no question that *Co has to go. It will be too hard for the Repugs and MSM to overlook the corruption, lies, deceit, obstruction and the shredding of the Constitution.
It is now commonly accepted that *Co lied us into this so-called war; had no plans for getting out and continues to lie and foster a perpetual war for profit. We have this DOJ political takeover. We have the outing of Plame and the commutation of Libby. We have the issue of the overreaching 'unitary executive' - executive orders, signing statements, the shredding of the Constitution. And we can go on and on and on.
Really - bottom line is that the quickest way to get rid of *Co is not through the impeachment process but to get Bush & Cheney to resign. The stigma of worst administration ever will be with them forever.
What if the Dems plan is to lay out so much of this that the Repugs just can't continue to stick by *Co and the Repugs force *Co to resign? It's cleaner than impeachment - and when they are gone from power - they are still subject to the crimes that they committed. *Co can run out the clock on impeachment - but they can't on 'forced resignation'.
Just a thought.

1. Considering what we here out of the House on impeachment, |
|
this sounds good to me if the DEMS can force it quickly! I hope they will be held to their crimes for the sake of the U.S.'s standing in the world. K&R

3. I for one don't think that *Co will ever resign... And I don't believe that |
|
he intends on giving up the job in 2009 either. I'm certain that they are planing events that would keep him as King George forever.

5. Impeachment is off the table because it would expose the evil empire for what it is. n/t |

6. Bush is such a narcissistic sociopath that he is literally incapable |
|
of realizing that he is a "moranic" loser. Cheney is just too mean to resign.

7. What if the Dems were just open and transparent with their "plans," |
|
so that we didn't have to speculate and fantasize about them?

8. By not impeaching Bush and Cheney, the Dems are setting a precedent where future Presidents can |
|
abuse power with impunity. That is the main reason to being impeachment proceedings now.

9. This is not something that just started yesterday |
|
This has been going on for 5 years or so and the media has had no trouble ignoring it all that time. so what makes you think that just a year or so away from getting away with the whole thing that they are suddenly going to change? Bush will never resign because he knows that the media will continue to ignore it no matter what is revealed or how bad it gets and that is why the rethugs are not at all worried about lousing power or even being embossed by resignation. George has a smirk on his face because he knows this and we don't/
