State auditor endorses Sen. Obama
07/25/2007

State Auditor Susan Montee on Tuesday became Missouri's first statewide Democratic officeholder to announce a choice for president by endorsing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

Montee praised Obama for his "new direction and new ideas."

"There's an excitement surrounding his campaign that we just haven't seen in 40 years," Montee said before holding a news conference in Kansas City.

In 2004, Montee was a delegate for John Edwards of North Carolina. This time around, she will head Missouri Women for Obama.
