An interesting conversation with a neighbor who removed his Hillary bumpersticker |
|
I was walking my dog tonight and all the neighborhood was outside and restless due to an electric outage that lasted for an hour or so.
Walking past a neighbor who had put a "Hillary 08" bumpersticker on his SUV's back window (not committing fully to the bumper), I noticed it was gone. I always wondered why he had it on his vehicle, since he also had a "Iraq War? No!" sticker fully committed to the bumper.
He was poking around in his yard and noticed my dog, a seven month old Lab, and of course commented on how cute she is (she really is...). I just flat out asked him after the pleasantries why he took the "Hillary" sticker off. He laughed and said he saw the debate on CNN and just thought how she just suddenly seemed arrogant and "snooty" with other candidates and it finally convinced him to take the thing off. He had also been cat-called at intersections around town and just decided it wasn't worth having on his truck.
I told him it was early in the primary season and we'll see what happens. Having seen him walk his dog by my house, I'm sure he's seen my Obama bumpersticker on my car...on the bumper, of course. I figure he'll keep looking at the candidates and make up his own mind.

I like Kucinich on a few fronts. I just like Obama more.
As for the neighbor, I'm glad he's back to kicking the tires for his preferred candidate. For all I know, he may decide to support Clinton again. Who knows...

There are still quite a few Dean 04, Kucinich 04, original Kerry primary and an occasional Clark bumperstickers in the area. Not many Republicans in town, but if you drive 10 miles in any direction, it can get pretty Repugish in parts.
As for cat-calls for my Obama bumpersticker, I've only had people ask me where they can get one. I usually keep a half dozen in my car, since I do a lot of tabling on weekends during these warm times.
Within a half mile radius from my house, I'd bet there are 25 Impeach Bush yard signs.

7. I wish I had a neighbor like that. |

Almost nobody in my neighborhood puts up signs or has bumper stickers. Of those who do, 99% of them are Republicans. In 2004 someone ripped up my Kerry sign.
Sounds like that guy was intimidated by others (probably Republicans) about supporting Hillary. That's sad. I don't see how she suddenly seemed arrogant the other night. I think he was just throwing that in so he didn't have to feel like he was giving in to pressure.
That's nice that you talked to him. I have no doubt that after a few conversations with you he'll probably be an Obama man too!

15. I don't support Hillary |
|
but I would rather see a Hillary bumper sticker than a Romney or Giuliani bumper sticker and I think it is sad that he felt uncomfortable having it on his car. In the end we progressives will all sink or swim together.

24. The bag of dogshit was more about their brain than they think |

A bag of dogshit would have a better odor than their own stench. Maybe they wanted to share their breakfast...

I was out in my front yard tonight and all of my neighbors were out due to the weather is just perfect and I noticed that my neighbor that had a XXX 2008 sticker on his car had removed it. As I walked out to the curb he commented how cute my new summer skirt it (it really is) and so after the chit chat I decided to ask what happened to the xxx sticker. I took it off because I got tired of being jeered every where I went he told me. Thank God I figured that out in time. I am now dedicated to your candidate of choice. How convenient is that?
ROFLOL! These stories of "Everyone has seen the light and now all of my neighbors, family, friends and co workers all support MY candidate of choice".
