The vitriol and paranoia are getting on my nerves. |
|
I've just waded through a thread largely filled with the most inane sort of tripe and self-justifying paranoia that you'll ever find, and it's far from alone here on DU.
People, is it not enough to have opinions, that we have to heap scorn and/or paranoid conspiracy theory onto any other alternative? Is it really that hard to hold an belief where the other side is not strapped to absolute evil? Is it neccessary that realism and nuance submit to the impulses of an absolute yes/no, on/off, good/bad world view?
I don't support Hillary Clinton for the nomination, but that doesn't mean I have to think that there's some massive media/neocon/Illuminati conspiracy to annoint her as the chosen candidate. I'd love for the Bush/Cheney era to be over today, but that doesn't obligate me to jump up and down, holding my breath and demanding an impeachement that I know isn't likely to happen. I don't do or say certain things that I find distasteful, but this does not promote me to the level of ultimate moral arbiter.
I swear, sometimes you'd think that we were Freepers here, the kind of pack mentality that takes over on certain subjects.

7. Some points; yours are somewhat justified, but... |
|
#1: the other side IS strapped to absolute evil #2: I'm not a Hillary fan either, yet, but will vote for her (if I have to) #3: If you don't DEMAND an impeachment, when will it happen and why is the concept (that's about all that's left imo) there?
I wouldn't know about the pack mentality of freepers, because I've never hung out there.
What does this mean? " I don't do or say certain things that I find distasteful, but this does not promote me to the level of ultimate moral arbiter."
Oh, and buy a star so we can revisit the tombs of DU!

plus, we provide enough ammunition once we move to the general elections mode.
The other side will not even have to work hard to throw trash at our nominee - whoever he or she is.

I'm afraid this is just the beginning. Iv'e already seen the Clinton's marriage questioned a few times, and I think we will be hearing about Whitewater, Vince Foster plots, and Monica Lewinsky before this thing is over, especially if Hillary continues to steamroll as she has been doing. One of her opponents seems to have a particulary um, extremely devoted group of supporters, and will pull out anything if it is negative on Hillary, regardless of source.

I've been in and out of here for several years and I've never known it NOT to be this way. This is a place where people can vent in a manner that may be deemed inappropriate in other areas of their lives. Let it be.

18. We do have a despotic president. |
|
If that sounds impolitic to you, there doesn't seem to be a pretty or bi-partisan way to say it.
Some folks think it is imperative for our future, for the future of the world, to rid ourselves of this menace.
Others, I don't know what they are thinking. That the threat isn't real, that nothing bad will happen if we continue on this path, that fascism isn't all that bad, I have no idea at all.
"I swear, sometimes you'd think that we were Freepers here..."
Speak for yourself...

Sure, the right-wing always attributes poor and unpopular behavior to those who disagree with them.
I don't think it has anything at all to do with ideology.
That claim is usually just used as an excuse to avoid or ignore the real question or issue.

Speaking of inane tripe!
Activism in favor of impeachment for crimes against the state and the people is not paramount to a temper tantrum. Although...if a people's tantrum will do the job, I'm in favor.
