I Just Flipped Over To C-SPAN And Specter Was Just Finishing A Press Conference.......
so I missed it. Did he have anything important to say or add to the Gonzo issue? Is he backing Leahy or has he had his arm twisted by *?

1. The last I heard is that Specter said he thought it the subpeonas
were political theatre. I heard it on AAR, Randi's show?

That's what drives me crazy about Specter, he acts like a normal person....
until it's time to vote or take action.

2. He saved his most savage critique for Schumer,
accusing him of being far too political and taking advantage of the situation and insinuated strongly that Schumer wasn't as good a patriot as he, himself, was.
He also was angry that no one was taking him seriously about his willingness to give up everything but a transcript. In the course of his later answers, he indicated that he would even be willing to give up the transcript idea in order to determine what happened, never realizing that the whole issue concerning testifying under oath, transcripts, public hearings is THE problem.

He's an annoying little twit who hasn't figured out yet that he's in the minority-all republican, all the time-but nobody takes him as seriously as he wishes.

7. That was SO wrong
He talks a good talk sometimes, then he goes with the GOP every time. Makes him look "independent" and "moderate" to speak rationally -- like telling Gonzo his credibility is shot -- but he's all Repug when it gets right down to it.

9. You know, even that wouldn't be so bad, perhaps admirable, if
the republicans came anywhere close to actually following the tenets they claim as their own.
Arlen the spectre seems to try to be a human, engaging in human like concerns, while doing his level best to try to cut some kind of break for his masters. His constant undermining of the SJC is appalling. Perhaps it shouldn't bother me, but when Leahy lavishes praise upon the senior senator from Pennsylvania, it gets a bit sickening, and it gives Specter a blessing of credibility for a few days of press appearances.

6. Another seminar in the Specter School of Political Grandstanding
Yes, some of its graduates (looking at you, Gordon Smith of Oregon) can turn in fine performances, but there's nothing like the touch of the Old Master when it comes to political grandstanding. One day, he can say right to Alberto Gonzales' face that he doesn't trust him. You think, "Aha! Here's the turning point. Gonzales is on his way out." The very next day, Specter can say that the call for Gonzales' resignation are just politics. Of course, all doubt about what Arlen really believes comes when it's time to vote, and he once again casts a reliable ballot for all the lying, all the corruption, and all the continuing abuse of our system by a bunch of out-of-control thieves and jackanapes.

10. This has been his game for two plus years now ...
I am in PA, and have a general sense of the guy, and I knew two years ago, when he started speaking out on Bushco on occassion, that in the end he would cave in ... He just has the "moderate republican" mantle down pat, at least in terms of pulling the wool over the sheeples eyes ...

It was the right thing to run Casey to take down the criminally insane maniac ... But, next up is Spector ... Run a more left leaning guy and put Spector out to pasture ...
