Stephen Pizzo: Putting the Dems on Suicide Watch
Putting the Dems on Suicide Watch
July 26, 2007

snip...

Recent polls show that Democratic Party faithful seem determined to do to their party what Republicans did to their party when they chose George W. Bush to be their top dog.

And that's precisely what Democrats will do if they nominate Hillary Clinton as their candidate for President.

I know, I've been saying that for months, beating that horse and beating it.. but it'll not only still kicking, but stronger than ever. So, maybe I'm wrong. I am wrong about half the time, so this could be one of those times.

Still I can't shake the ominous feeling that Democrats are sleepwalking their party off a cliff, led by Pied Piper Hillary. My gut tells me that, if they nominate Hillary there are only two possible outcomes, both bad;

1) She will run and lose, sticking us with another Republican in the White House,
2) Or, she'll run and win sticking us with another Bill and Hillary White House soap opera.

1. Grossly simplistic.
But not without an infantesimal amount of merit.

6. Oh Lord
Does this butthole think his little post will make people run scared. The republicans are messing and peeing their pants because they are so down down down, they are trying to do everything they can to influence Democrats not to vote. ANY Democratic candidate will be 1000% times better than ANY republican. That's the true statement.

8. I've read the same dire warnings here, over and over.
Disclaimer: Hil's not my 1st/2nd/3rd choice in the primaries

But, c'mon, whatever Democrat wins the nomination, it's on to the WH in 2008. You really think there's a united Republican base that will be energized to beat her? I know the RW Wurlitzer will go into overdrive, but I just don't see the American people willing to continue their floggings, especially when they think about life under BC vs. the past 7 years. Of course, I don't believe the results of 2004 were real, either. And a lot has changed since then...

10. Yes. I really think so.
Never underestimate the power of well-funded evil, especially when it unscrupulously plays the greed and fear cards so well.

Iraq is going to be a disaster; it's just a question of to what degree and when. Should the Dems force their policies through and have an effect on the war, it can easily be blamed on them. Should the economy falter, it can easily be blamed on them. Should there be another terrorist incident, it can easily be blamed on them.

Because of the sheer idiocy of the front-loaded primaries, the nominee will probably be known on February 5th; the 6th will be an ugly day, and the derision and vilification will continue unabated for the next nine months. With Hillary's negatives where they are already, that's a scary prospect.

Remember 1994? The reactionaries aren't dead by a long shot.

11. What scares the hell out of me is this....
the American people say, OK Hillary, here's the White House but we're giving you a Republican Congress to watch over you. Who in their right mind thinks that will turn out to be a good thing? I say HELL NO ON HILLARY! I LOVE her as Senator for the State of New York! I don't want outright partisan warfare from the right wing. Hillary just makes it too damned easy for them to sway millions upon millions of people against her. Obama, Edwards, or please run Al Gore.

12. Not an apt comparison
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 06:10 PM by CreekDog
Hillary is not Bill
(Bill made decisions as Prez that she wouldn't have, she will make decisions that he wouldn't have)

Hillary is competent, knowledgeable, listens and a consensus builder
(she shouldn't be compared to the President because he is none of those things)

If she is the best candidate on this side, then she should be selected, period.

Strange as it may seem, I'm not a Hillary supporter, however, when inane posts come out against her or other candidates, the ridiculousness makes me pay attention to the fact that they aren't so bad and they really do bring much to the table. So, as with the anti-Edwards posts, which made me reconsider him and that made him my current favorite, the anti-Hillary posts (that lack any substantive criticism) actually are making me reconsider her as my top choice. Hats off to you, look what you've accomplished!

ps-I think the column is one of the most inane things I have ever read. To see it quoted here as something to consider really makes me wonder about the original post. And I'm not even a Hill supporter.

13. Furthermore when voting in a primary
You need to decide who to vote for, not whom to vote against.

You may come up with reasons to not like Hillary, but if, for example, Obama is simply not as good, you've got to go with her instead.

I personally liked Bradley more in 2000, but I could see that Al Gore was simply the better choice.
