Grover Norquist calls Edwards "lead lemming"
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 04:22 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
More evidence of right-wingers fearing Edwards' economic policies and message...

Note: Edwards is proposing raising the top capital gains tax rate to 28%.

==Edwards' speech, which laid out the most detailed tax policy of any leading candidate, reflected his efforts to cast his campaign as one of "bold ideas" and to court the party's left wing with ambitious and liberal policies. Though he places third in many national polls of the Democratic field, analysts say his initiatives have helped shape the campaign debate on Iraq, poverty and healthcare, pressuring front-runners Sens. Barack Obama of Illinois and Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York to offer initiatives of their own or to tack to the left.==

On taxes, however, Obama and Clinton may be more reluctant to follow Edwards' lead because of the political risks of proposing tax hikes as big as he has.

Grover Norquist, president of the anti-tax group Americans for Tax Reform, welcomed a fight with Democrats who want to raise taxes.

"It is a central division between every Republican candidate and every Democrat," Norquist said. "I hope, as lead lemming, Edwards keeps up a brisk pace."==

==Clinton and Obama voted against a 2006 law to extend the 15% rate, but neither has endorsed a rate higher than 20%.==

3. makes me like Edwards even more
Norquist is a horrid man, and anyone he dislikes is doing something right.

Edwards economics would bring us into line with the most compassionate, enlightened vision for a modern country.

Norquist, not so much.

5. And Norquist is the lead
fruit fly. Your lifespan in that jar of a think tank you're in is getting shorter every day.

I'm all for less taxes, but people sort of like to have the stuff that the government provides, like roads, police, safe food, mail service, education. Corporations won't give up their subsidies and the tooth fairy doesn't put spare change under pillows to make those happen. These things don't come cheap.

95% of current and future earnings will be garnished to help rebuild Big Government. In exchange, we will name a sewer treatment plant after him.

13. Yeah, and Norquist's a "snide snake"
The Grand Poo-bah of Fuckyouistan has spoken: think not what you can do for your fellow man, think how much money you can get for rendering his body down for salable chemicals and animal products.

Never mind that the price of human failure screws us all, we need to laugh at the downtrodden because they're inferior and deserve to die in embarrassing public agony.

Norquist is the kind of guy who'd sit at a sidewalk cafe using daddy's money to have drinks with his similarly sustained friends as they watch a wretched street person try to pry up the quarter they've epoxied to the pavement. When the poor creature's fingernails rip and bleed, they shriek with joy and order another round.

18. A great endorsement for John Edwards.
If you're a Democrat and Grover Norquist actually likes your proposals, you should probably skip the whole process of soul searching and opt straight for exorcism.

Screw Norquist - Go Edwards!

19. Norquist is sweating bullets...If a Dem gets in, he'll be stamping license plates
Edited on Sat Jul-28-07 09:17 AM by farmbo
It's clear that he was conspiring with Jack Abarmoff to launder the shake-down $$$ from the various Casino gambling interests through his Citizens for Tax Reform and other shell 501(c)3s.

If the DOJ gets back into the hands of professional prosecutors, Norquist's toast.

Edited on Sat Jul-28-07 10:10 AM by gulliver
I just hope Dems have the sense to let Norquist continue to lead Republicans over the cliff into the sea. We need Norquist, Rove, Gonzales, Bush, and Cheney on the TV throughout 2008. After that, they can all go to hell.
