PBS's N.O.W. silenced in Chicago tonight

Not sure how many of you were able to see the NOW program tonight detailing the Voter Caging perpetrated by the * admin against voters in Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico and Pennsylvania -

Viewers in Chicago have two PBS stations and neither chose to air it. WYCC, the city college station, generally airs this program on Friday nights but states it is not airing it for a couple of Fridays starting with tonight... a basketball game is on in its stead. You know, that summer sport that's more ***king important than our democracy going down the ***king tubes.

(edit to correct - its a music special with Dave Brubeck rather than a basketball game - that's playing on the WTTW PBS station.)

My question - did it air ANYWHERE in the USA tonight? And if so, why isn't there any feedback to the program posted on the PBS website?

16. The television audience

will be larger though than those of us who feel comfortable and/or who are able to watch the video online.

My fear is that some program manager thinks he/she will be able to suppress this and no one will notice. Maybe there is a legitimate reason why they are not airing this show for two weeks... they will need to convince me. Maybe they will air this when the show returns in two weeks. Not as powerful as showing it when the rest of the country is viewing it and talking about it though.

I was just saying that if someone here can't get it on TV, they should watch it online. I would definitely like to see it get to a large audience, though.

11. they will probably carry it at another time. You can also get 2 other pbs stations.

In chicago you can get Milwaukee. here in rockfor we get madison and chicago.

stations out here in the western suburbs. And I checked the WYCC website - NOW is not on for two weeks. Isn't it weird that the two largest PBS stations in the state won't play this program?

I am calling them both on Monday to tell them how upset I am with them.

in chicago gets chicago and milwaukee.

I'd call them and ask them what the deal is!


If they don't plan to run it, ask them why.

Also... if they refuse to air it for some lame reason, just share the website address on here, and we'll take care of 'em!

15. I am going to call them on Monday

so I can talk to a live person. And if they tell me that they are just not going to air it, I will be back here and ask my fellow DUers to help out.

Maybe they have a legitimate program issue - the Brubeck show was great but it certainly wasn't 'live' and could have been played at another time.

35. I found the link and posted in down thread BUT

I do find it appalling still that it wasn't aired on Friday and that at the link, it doesn't even state the show description. This is just too important an issue (our ability to have our votes counted for chrissakes!) to be relegated to an off time on a Sunday afternoon. I expect more from PBS... esp as WTTW11 is one of the largest PBS stations in the country.

So that's something at least - It is going to air here but apparently without ANY fanfair as an important program. I will call WTTW and WYCC on Monday anyway just to ask why they made these program decisions.

See my post upthread at #32 and #35. My problem remains with when they are airing it (not at its original time slot) and the lack of information on either PBS website.

I will call them on Monday to ask them about it. Somehow describing it as "No Description Available" doesn't cut it with me on such an important topic. I will be civil and just let them know that their actions on this were noted by at least one viewer out here in TVland.
