Richardson says he will announce Cabinet before 2008 vote
By Philip Elliott, Associated Press Writer | July 28, 2007

HANOVER, N.H. --Presidential hopeful Bill Richardson told union members on Saturday he would give voters a preview of his Cabinet before voters pick the next president.

Richardson, a former Clinton-era Cabinet secretary, told a Service Employees International Union conference at Dartmouth College that he would give voters a preview of who exactly would be running the federal government. He must first win his party's nomination, a prospect he acknowledges might be tough odds against Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. But that isn't stopping his appeal.

"I would announcement my Cabinet before the election. If I'm the nominee, I would tell you who my team would be. It would have independents, Republicans and Democrats . Don't worry, I won't overdo the Republicans," Richardson said to laughter. "It would be taken from America, not from the Beltway." ~snip~

1. He should talk about it before the primary vote.
It'd get people talking about him, and maybe we'd find out who the other candidates favor in their cabinet too.

2. I think that nearly every Democratic Candidate has said something that I can support
Can we just take all the candidates and make them the cabinet?
Who ever comes out top on election day is President and 2nd place from the primary is Vice.
Then fill the rest of the cabinet in with the rest of the Democratic Candidates.
Right now I could vote for almost everyone of them if they were to get the nomination.

I still have a favorite for the top job but will support any one of the Democratic candidates for the President of the United States providing we have elections and can get bu$h and crash cart out on Jan 20, 2009

4. That's dumb
All that does is give an open invitation to every snot-nosed, mousy little enterprising reporter to dig up old skeletons in people's closets. By doing this Richardson would setting a fuse and just asking some little shit in the media to light it.

5. It is an interesting idea but potentially illegal
One could argue he is promising offices in return for support which has been illegal since the 1800's. If he can get around it, and one way would be to have the endorsements by those people come before him naming them as cabinet people, it would be a great idea.

6. We can make a great cabinet out of current candidates
Whomever wins the Dem nomination need look no farther than to fellow candidates for potential Cabinet offices. Say Hillary wins, then: Dennis for SEC HEW, Joh Edwards fo AG, Bill Richardson for SEC LABOR, Obama for SEC TREAS, Biden for SEC STATE, Dodd for SEC DEF, Gavel for SEC INT, who else?
