Wow! Did everyone hear on C-SPAN yesterday
that Lawrence Korb (former asst. Secretary of State under Reagan) say we either HAVE to redeploy our troops or resume the DRAFT? And that the the military is broken! Not enough men signing up for the military.

Of course General Keane (Ret. under Bush runny nose) refutes all this.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I wasn't watching TV yesterday.

5. DUers, you HAVE to join your local draft boards.
That's my own, personal opinion.

7. You know what I don't get about these rethugs?
The ones that think we need to stay in Iraq -

Why don't they want to do anything to make it better?
I don't understand their logic.
If they think a surge is what we need, then why don't they get more troops?

If they want to stay - why don't they want to change their plans to have
positive results?

They should listen to themselves.
It's almost like they are saying - Let's stay in Iraq and see how badly we can really f*ck up.

That said, I pray that there never, ever, ever is another draft.

9. if there is a draft 20 yr olds will be called first
Edited on Sat Jul-28-07 04:35 PM by notadmblnd
both male and female. I just completed my draft board training on the 14th where we were told that a draft is very unlikely because that would really put people (repubs) up in arms. The only way I can see a draft coming is if the pukes start another war before their term is up and dump responsibility for finding more troops to the new person after 2009 so the Dems can be blamed for it.

11. Did you happen to catch Bill Moyers last night?
He had on a Al Quaeda expert who teaches classes at West Point and an Author who has written many books about Al Queda - both agree that there isn't a military solution to the Al Queda networks in Iraq and that our presence there just works as a recruitment tool for Al Queda.

He also had a piece at the end where he compared the death of a 18 year old US Soldier with some statements taken at a Convention for Young Republicans. It was pretty telling, that those who say they support this war don't want to soil their hands with the actual fighting.

You should check it out if you haven't already.

8. Does This Mean Barbara, Jenna, and Chelsea Get To Go To Iraq?
Edited on Sat Jul-28-07 04:25 PM by MannyGoldstein
That's totally unfair - their parents didn't think their kids would have to go to war when they voted to start this thing.

10. People enlisted in 2001 to fight Osama then got fucked over and sent to Iraq.
Their 7 year enlistment is up in 2008. that is why the military is ruined. If we stayed after Osama they would have plenty of people to fight, but the neocons had to invade and occupy Iraq????? What assholes...
