WARNING TO Lurkers without a DU account who work for Exxon/Mobil or own an Exxon/Mobil gas station.
Many people see that you give a lot of money to the Republican party. A lot of people have now had to suffer for over a year paying prices per gallon from $2.50 to $3.25.

If you lurk here and do not have a DU account, tell your gas station owner, tell your upper management that a purchasing strike exists conducted by those who agree with me that unless Exxon/Mobil gas stations prices their gasoline down to $1.75 a gallon we will not go to your gas station for anything. We will not buy Exxon/Mobil gasoline but more importantly we will not get our cars repaired at your Exxon/Mobil station and we will not buy any food or other items at your convenience stores.

We can easily go to another gas station. When the economic pressure mounts on the station owners, then perhaps the parent company will get pressure from their gas station owners to do as we ask.

OK Lurkers who don't have DU accounts, go tell your fellow Exxon/Mobil management and gas station owners we mean business for someone else until you lower your prices to $1.75 a gallon. No more gas gouging.

1. It won't work cuz...

Then Exxon will export the gas to increasing numbers of car
owners in China & India who will be happy to buy it.

Not only that, but then we will have less gas to share and
the remaining oil companies will be able to raise the price
even more.

A better solution lies in buying cars with higher gas mileage.
This is already happening as sales of gas guzzlers are down.

2. Can Exxon/Mobil send mechanics to China to do car repairs?
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 03:52 AM by liberaldemocrat7
Will Exxon/Mobil send mechanics to China to do car repairs? You missed the part where I tell people not to get their car repaired at Exxon/Mobil stations. Gas stations make most of their money on car repairs and on food and other convenience items. If people stop going to Exxon/Mobil stations they cannot replace the income by getting Chinese people to get their car repairs at these Exxon/Mobil stations in the United States.

8. Do you think that
the mechanics that work at an Exxon/Mobile FRANCHISE actually work for Exxon/Mobile? Do you think they buy auto parts from Exxon/ Mobile? No, they work for the OWNERS of the franchise, many of whom made their investment a long time ago and worked hard to establish themselves in their community with quality service. Get your gas somewhere else if you believe it will make a difference, but not buying services will only hurt the small business employees, not to mention the auto parts stores they buy their parts from or the candy/ chips/soda people who stock their shelves.
There has to be a better way to tackle this problem of price gouging as well as getting this company to pay the fines it owes for the environmental catastrophe's it has caused without hurting the hardworking people trying to make a living.

6. I have to agree with both of you.
We should be moving to alternatives like the compressed air car. But, boycotting Exxon - singling them out - would be a great move.

The other companies would gain market share while also understanding the power of the consumer. We would not be left short, that's for sure.

If consumers could band together to make a statement this strong, if we could financially cripple the company that earned the largest profit in the history of the world, we would change the corporate culture of greed and make consumers interest a priority.

Right now, we are nothing. Exxon sold us a story about having a shortage while they raked in the world's highest profits and we barely protest. The people's representatives don't care and the media sees no reason to be concerned. Hey, we still fill up.

Of course, we have to fill up. They know that and they think they have us. A boycott of Exxon would be an incredible move by consumers. Again, it would change the entire landscape.

7. In the past 2 years, I have spent a total of $20 at Exxon, as opposed to thousands at Citgo and Hess
I have had to stop at Exxon/Mobil stations maybe 3 times for emergencies to buy five gallons or so to get me to the next Hess or Citgo station.
