Margaret Carlson: Obama gets under Hillary's skin and she doesn't like him |
|
So much of the pundits predicting a Clinton/Obama ticket it ain't happing. Plus he outshines her and she can't have that if shes the nominee. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_carlson&sid=a01EgUZoha_oBloomberg.com: Opinion

Not that I don't believe it, but BLOOMERS has a real advantage in sowing seeds of descent in Democratic quarters at this point.
Whoops -- forgot!: I think Hillary wants to be POTUS so badly that if focus groups and polling showed she'd be elected with Monica Lewinsky in the ticket, she's do it. That having been said, Obama is no prob. If he'll help her ticket, she won't care how much she hates him (if that's even true.)

3. Maybe so, but I just have a problem with bloomberg.com as a source. |
|
Also, what would Carlson have to gain from revealing this at this point?
It sounds strange.

8. She doesn't write like a "heavy supporter" |
|
From the same article:
"This all served to reiterate Clinton's major push of late to show herself as ready on Day One to sit in the Oval Office and Obama as wet behind the ears.
"This requires a rewrite of history. She has to ignore her claim during the years after her health-care debacle that she was far too consumed with entertaining, historic preservation and book writing to make much out of being a pillow away from the presidency."

24. Margaret Carlson was a member of CNN's Capital Gang |
|
The so-called liberals on that show, Carlson, Al Hunt, and Mark Shields, never got to spend enough showtime bashing the Clintons. If any one of the three were to now be a Clinton supporter, it would be one of the largest political turnabouts in recent memory. Those three were card carrying members in good standing of the beltway whores united.

20. The truth is Obama gets under Ravioli Girl's skin! |
|
Carlson is such a sleazy PRE$$TITUTE! I still remember how Bob Somerby exposed her sleazy side in her autobiography, where she ADMIITTED that she enjoyed trashing Gore because of the food he served on his plane. She said she became a Bush supporter because he saw to it that she was fed lobster ravioli and fine wine when she dined on his plane. Screw her!

5. She seems to like Obama almost as much as she likes her former flame, Fred Thompson. |
|
The Daily Howler once summarized her atacks on the Clintons and Al Gore as "ugly, evil writing." I'm not sure I'd take her word on anything involving Democrats. http://noquarter.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/03/margaret_carlso.html Back in 2000, Atrios reminded us last week, it was rumored that then Time columnist Margaret Carlson dated Sen. Fred Thompson. In fact, Sen. Thompson's VP chances were hurt by his liaison with the "too liberal" Ms. Carlson. (And that, kids, is one reason the Shrub selected Dick Cheney, and the rest is history ...)
It was also rumored at the time that Sen. Thompson was "simultaneously involved with another woman." But that didn't stop Margaret Carlson, now a Bloomberg columnist, from gushing about her old heartthrob on Hardball with Chris Matthews yesterday:
CARLSON: He does look like the dad. He has everything that Pat says. He‘s handsome, he‘s charming, he sounds like a president, he looks like a president, but Pat says he might not have the fire in the belly. That could help him, not having the hunger, not being willing to do anything could help him. <...>
CARLSON: The theme song of Republicans should be “Some Day My Prince Will Come,” and they‘re waiting and they‘re hoping. And so Fred Thompson is not late at all. His moment is here.
It gets better:
CARLSON: The theme song of Republicans should be “Some Day My Prince Will Come,” and they‘re waiting and they‘re hoping. And so Fred Thompson is not late at all. His moment is here. MATTHEWS: Some day he will come along. Do you think he‘s coming now?
CARLSON: I think he‘s coming soon.
Good gracious, Margaret!

7. It's true - leaving experience and qualifications out of it |
|
Obama has a star quality that attracts people and Clinton is totally charisma-free. I think she's jealous of Obama's ability to attract people and it shows in her approach to the "controversy" over the debate responses. She way over reacted and it made her look petty and spiteful.
If she gets the nomination I hope she can be just as nasty toward the repubs but I have a feeling she'll tone down the act for General Election purposes. If she does I expect that she won't be elected president.

12. When Margaret Carlson writes about financial security and health care, wake me up. |
|
She is a cheap gossip columnist who does our side no good. As Inside-the Beltway as they come; another David Broder.
Hey, Margaret, here's a tip - get your sorry ass out of Washington and go talk to some people in this country.
A tool of the GOP, which is already using her type to establish that the Dems are insubstantial.
Garbage, garbage, garbage.

|
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 05:13 PM by Ethelk2044
The pundits were discussing why Hillary behaved the way she did the past week. They thought it hurt her. Yes, they said Obama gets under her skin. They went on to say, she thought she would have had an easier run for 2008 and she looks at Obama standing in the way of that. More than Margaret feels this way.

He is a rookie who should have waited for "his turn." Without Obama in the race Clinton's chances would be much better due to having a huge fund-raising advantage over Edwards, who would have been her main rival without BO. Obama's entry in the race will probably prove to have helped Edwards in the long run.

21. I think Hillary admires, and fears, Obama. |
|
She thinks this is HER time, and she knows that if Obama gets the nomination, she won't be able to run in 2016.
And, the thing is: Obama is a special politician- a star. So, he can indeed win the nomination and the presidency.
